We had a great day for fishing, although we only caught one huge King Salmon the entire time (36” and about 30 Lbs).  We fished an area best suited for salmon and then went out a bit farther and fished for halibut.  Unfortunately, the fish just weren’t biting well and we could see that also was true for several other fishing boats near us at the salmon and halibut sites.  Overall though Capt Terry was great and knew what he was doing, the boat was fine, and his gear assistant, Jonah, was also very good at getting lines out and such.  I would definitely recommend Juneau Adventures if visiting in the area.

We booked 2 charters with Terry weeks in advance before we traveled to Juneau. The boat we had for the first charter was beautiful, great boat. The guide we had (not Terry) and deck hand were very nice. Issues started after about 1.5hrs into our trip, we noticed the main guide was in the cabin of our boat for 90% of the trip leaving the deckhand (17yrs old) to do all of the grunt work for the majority of the time and was clearly overwhelmed doing everything, our lines got tangled through out our 6hrs trip. To the deckhands credit, he worked extremely hard, was social and did the best he could. The guide offered him very little help. We ended up with 3 fish to take home.

Our entire trip to Alaska was based around fishing, so when it was time to fish our second day we were ready to go, however it never came. Terry had not scheduled anyone to take us out fishing, so we were waiting at the dock for 30min before we sent a text to Terry. He issued no apology to us and tried to get us on a whale watching tour with another party that we wanted no part of. And as of writing this Terry has not issued a refund of our down payment. I’m my opinion Terry White is NOT A CAPTAIN, he is more of a boat broker.

I would not spend money on this charter, our entire trip was ruined.

This Boat, Captain, crew, nothing short of a ten, and great with kids, they put ya on the fish period, Best Regards Gordon Smith
