8 hours on the water and only one fish, which was the only bite we had all day. I’m aware it’s called fishing and not catching, which is why I gave this trip a 3 star, most would have been pissed and gave it nothing. The deck hand did what he could to try and get the bite going by changing bait and such frequently, but the Captain only left his seat once and barely spoke. When we hit the main fishing grounds it seemed every boat around us was hooked up, but we never did! The one we caught was in route while trolling, which is basically what we did all day. I’m not even sure if we tried to catch anything but Marlin since there was very little communication. The snack was good, drinks were fine, I just felt we didn’t try anything new when after 3 hours of trolling it was clear that wasn’t working. We asked to try Marlin, dorado, or rooster fish, never saw the approach change so no clue if we even tried. We had hoped to get Juan, which is who I talked to up until the day of, just to get someone else the morning of, which felt deceiving. I really don’t think this trip deserves the three stars I’m giving it, but knowing fishing I felt I needed to be fair to the boat and deck hand. I’m nice back at the dock, there wasn’t even a goodbye-thanks for coming and sorry we didn’t do better-NOTHING so left me feeling very unappreciated for the $600 (which clear closer to $635) and $120 tip we still left with even only one fish. We will look elsewhere next time.
