Captain Mike was awesome, he put us on baitfish early in the morning caught a big black snapper while trolling another while drop fishing and a king mackrel and missed about four more caught several bonitas which fight really good and fun to catch. We even hooked about a 9’ bull shark that we fought for a good hour before it cut our line, but we did get him to the top of the water to get to see him. Awesome day. Captain Mike Dates was incredible it was our second time being taken out by him and it was awesome. We caught bait fish searched for fish caught a few different species then spent the last hour fighting a shark. The fishing was hard because of the weather but the Captain kept trying different ways to get us on something we had an amazing time and will be coming back again and continuing our fishing with First Shot!

We had used the same Captain for 10 previous years but he retired and sold his boat.  The new people rate see the price and essentially priced us out.  We found captain Mike Dates and fished with him in July, 2025.  We had a blast, he worked hard and put us on fish.  We caught an assortment of fish from Snapper to Grouper to Amberjack.  Two of us even fought 2 Bull sharks for an hour each.  Highly recommend and we will fish with him again.

Can’t say enough about Captain Mike. My wife and I had the best time! I emphasized that my wife can get sick with bigger waves and Captain took that with the utmost priority. Not only a great fishing person, just a great person all around! Will definitely book again! Thank you Captain Mike!!!!

Had a blast. If you are taking kids Captain Mike is your guy. He is passionate about getting them hooked up. To quote him he said “Get them hooked on fishing and you wont have to worry about them getting hooked on anything else”. Great family atmosphere. Enjoyed the fishing and fellowship.
