We booked a full-day fishing charter for our family trip out of Quepos, Costa Rica, shifting focus from our past sailfish and marlin hauls to target dorado and yellowfin tuna. This was our 8th visit to Quepos to fish (we are an extended family of anglers). The action delivered: we boated 4 out of 5 dorado, 7 out of 9 yellowfin tuna, and even 6 out of 8 sailfish as bonus fighters. Everyone from kids to grandparents hooked into fish steadily, making it a memorable multi-species day offshore.
Captain expertly stayed on the fish, repositioning seamlessly around bait schools and structure 15-25 miles out. Crew hustled non-stop—rigging, gaffing, and icing fish—keeping energy high through calm seas and peak bites.
The amenities provided to us, from the snacks and fresh fruit to the freshly cooked lunch were an added bonus! Highly recommend Vamanos for some of the best fishing we’ve had in years!
