We went for a friends bachelor party and ended up having the best fishing trip! One that most anglers never get to have! We caught a huge marlin right out the gate, bright and early in the morning. The fight was incredible. We then caught many mahi mahi for the remainder of our day. The crew was a lot of fun to hang with and very good at their craft. They were super helpful and a blast to be around. The captain of papi chulo knew how to put us on the fish we wanted and knew how to maneuver the boat with perfection once we hooked a fish. 11/10 for Papi Chulo Charters!! Book with these guys!!

We boked the 8 hour fishing trip. The Captain and Mates were all great! They communicated very well with us and made sure we had everything we needed. Took about an hour to get out to the fishing grounds. They started trolling and we had our first fish on the line about an hour later. It was a nice sailfish! Got it all the way back to the boat and got pictures before they released it. We hooked two more sailfish that broke the line before we could get them in. About 5 hours into the trip we caught another really nice sailfish. Started reeling it in and hooked another on the other line at the same time. Got those two reeled in, got pictures, and we were exhausted. Headed back a little early after catching 5 sailfish and getting 3 of them to the boat!!! Amazing trip, had a GREAT time!!! Captain put us on the fish and the mates were all over the poles and lines keeping them in the water.
Our family of four had a wonderful day on the water. We didn’t catch any fish while trolling, but neither did other boats in the area. The two mates really put in the effort while trolling, by trying endless lures and fresh bait. The fish just weren’t biting. We requested to use our last 1-2 hours to bottom fish. That’s when the action began! We landed numerous Grouper, 2 beautiful Snapper, and others. The only glitch was the requested gluten free lunch of chicken and rice, turned into sandwiches. The person in our group with Celiac made a lettuce and turkey wrap. So it all worked out in the end.
Everything was great, they prepared the Mahi Mahi we caught, best ceviche sooooo fresh!!! Definitely would recommend to book with Captain Hansel, Daniel and Jose on Papi Chulo!

My husband and I are avid angles off the West Coast of British Columbia and Washington State. Fishing in Costa Rica was nothing short of hot!!! Weather and fishing wise. Our First Mate Bryan worked his butt off getting us on the fish. He didn't give up!! He continously checked to make sure we were dragging bait and when fishing turned off he changed things up trying different lures. Captain Hansel put in a shift too. It had to be over 35 degrees the day we went out and both Captain and First Mate kept up the same energy for bringing to end of the Charter. We will have some new fish tails to tell when we get home.
