My family of four booked a 6h fishing trip. Capn Dan, the skipper of MV Solamaar made our fishing experience a highly memorable one. He was very seasoned and highly experienced in his craft. It was a relaxing day on the water. Our time was spent enjoying the views around the lake, skimming along the water, feeling the cool breeze and interspersed by bouts of excitement and activity when a trout took the bait.We caught quite a few. Capn Dan kindly cleaned the fishes for us and we even got to enjoy one for sashimi. We would come back again for another fishing trip with Capn Dan. We just had the best time, even my 85 year old mum. And it was all thanks to Capn Dan!

We had a very enjoyable afternoon with the helpful and informative Captain Daniel Wood. We were instantly made to feel welcome aboard his lovely boat which is very comfortable and well equipped. Not only did we catch some nice rainbow trout we also learnt a lot about the local history and ecosystem of Lake Taupo.

Our day with Taupo Fishing was really enjoyable. The Captain knew his stuff and made the whole fishing trip smooth and fun. Cruising on Lake Taupo was relaxing, and the boat was well-maintained. We were provided with good-quality fishing gear and given helpful tips without making it feel too formal. We managed to catch some decent fish and had a laid-back, enjoyable time. The Captain was friendly, and the overall atmosphere was easygoing.

Captain Dan is a legend who makes sure you catch fish, enjoy a swim in the clear lake. And quietly regales you with fascinating fishing facts. His boat is the best we’ve ever fished from. It’s like a five star luxury cruise ship for just an handful of exclusive fishing friends.
