Captain level of enthusiasm was less than to be desired. We caught lots of fish but I wished captain would have been a little more personable.

No crew, frozen bait, no chairs and no professionalism.  Stated the day before he caught no fish so “don’t be disappointed if we don’t catch any today”!  Been on many charters and literally this guy doesn’t say a word, like where we are going or fishing for.  However, watch his comments if you disagree with him (like this post).  If you like expensive boat rides vs catching fish proceed with this charter.  People pay good money to catch fish, other captains I spoke with were all over the fish, not us.  So let me hear how “you make your own luck” again.

This fishing trip was a nightmare. The time was moved up to 5:40 am so the first experience was to get up at 3:30 am to get ready and drive 1and1/2 hours to the port. We were received by Mr Grillo in a no so very courteous manner, not even a good morning. Then there was the absence of a a first mate, as was advertised. After Mr Grillo staying that it was only him, started the 1and1/2 hour trip to the fishing site in an old boat very slow and unstable. Finally, let’s be fishing… The first fish got away as Mr Grillo took the reel from me, not saying anything cause he was going to teach me how to do it, how to fish. The next fish, Mr Grillo did the same to my son David. Every fish he was doing the same thing until I told him that I was there to have some fun, he responded saying that l lost three fish already when we didn’t even have that many bites yet. He said he was teaching me, which I can assure you, I did not need to be taught. It was so frustrating that I stopped fishing completely. Then the boat was so unstable that you could not stand and fish, my son stated vomiting and Mr Grillo didn’t even look his way he just kept fishing because at this time he was the only one doing it. It was so bad that we decided to call quits and return. Another 1and1/2 hour tortured trip back to the port. We spend 4 hours in the water and three were riding to and back from the fishing spot and one, if you can call it that, fishing. My 10 years old boy and my wife were abused to be put in the such a trip seating in the same place four hours without moving. We could have gone to a closer place were the boat could be stable on the water and everyone could have an opportunity to fish, but way… Mr Grillo didn’t bring any live bait, just the stinky left overs to fish on the bottom…. And wait, there is no fishing chair for my wife or my child even though it is advertised. It was a terrifying experience. Mr Grillo will leave the boat running full speed, well for the boat, and be at the back of the boat and no one steering the thing.
In conclusion, it was a nightmare that costed me $600. 00 to ride three horrifying hours in a boat not adequate for the task and an annoying hour trying to do some fishing and having this, whatever man, taking the reel and the fight from you every time, two for me and several for my son David. Mr Grillo failed to provide live bait, a mate or assistant, the fishing / fighting chair and a relaxing pleasurable environment for fishing. No safety guilines, instructions or even a world of what he was doing. Never tall us where the life jackets were or how to use them.
NOT RECOMMENDED FOR A TRIP. MISLEADING ADDS AND NOT AT ALL WHAT HE IS SELLING!!!
