We booked a fishing trip in Jaco.  Our boat was a 28 foot Mako and was a nice boat, very clean.  The Captain and crew were great to work with and spoke good english.  We did spend too much time bottom fishing when we had hoped to troll for Blue Marlin which we were told were running right now.  However, we caught 4 grouper and 2 Red Snapper.  One Red Snapper was too small but the other one was huge.  We took them back to the beach where The Pelican restaurant cooked the Red Snapper for us by grilling, frying and blackening it.  A huge meal for 3 guys!  Overall a really good day

The Crew was very experienced with boat but Capt Reyes was not there today. We did catch 1 Pacific Sailfish but felt like we could have been better prepared to target the species that I desired to go after today. I felt like if we had been better prepared for the target species we would have at least been in the ball game. We did catch some yellowfin but we catch yellowfin in the states. The 2 crew members wer good, rods and reels were good. He needs a new depth sounder and a live bait capacity. For the price the fishing was okay but I think good better better overall. But for the economy fishermen I would go again but try to get crew more involved on the target species and what we need. Overall would give Average 3 stars

Caught Rooster fish, jack fish and small snapper. Mate filleted snapper and Capt. Henry brought them to El Pelicano restaurant for us and we went that afternoon and the restaurant cooked our fish with sides while we sipped margaritas and watched the sunset on Herradura Beach.Overall good trip.

We started out the trip by attempting to catch live bait. For 2 hours the first mate and capt tried to catch live bait but to no avail. In all my past trips live bait was pre purchased or was bought from another boat. So once they gave up on that we troll fished for the remaining 5-6 hours. All we caught was one Spanish mackerel.

I understand sometimes the fish aren’t biting and it’s not the capt’ s fault. I would have rather fished only inshore and used live bait like we asked. I felt the crew could have done a better job aquiring live bait since lures were not working. They did let us cast for rooster tail for an extra hour which was a nice change of pace. Overall the capt/crew were very nice and the equipment was adequate. Fun trip but catching fish would have been better!
