Hey Travis, even though Iv already spoke to you over the phone I wanted to reply here as well. Once again I am very sorry the fishing was poor. As you could hear on the VHF everyone was struggling to find something to catch despite working together and covering a lot of different spots. Fortunately for us Port Canaveral doesn’t dish out many days like this, but the fact of the matter is that fishing is fishing and some days can be a little tougher than others. The giant Goliath grouper you guys caught was a fish of a lifetime so I am glad you guys were able to experience that as well as a few snappers and bonita on a VERY slow day of fishing for the entire fleet.
All we can ask of the captains is to try their hardest and never give up when the fishing is slow. I am glad to hear you guys enjoyed Capt. Billy and that he worked his tail off for you. Hopefully next time the fish cooperate a little more so we can earn the 5 star review we strive for.

Hey Albert, first of all I am very sorry you were disappointed with your trip. It is not our intention for anybody to walk away unhappy. If the captain was rude, showed lack of effort, or the equipment was not properly working please contact me at **hidden content** and I can promise the problem will be addressed.

I remember a big lack of communication with your trip. I tried multiple times thru phone calls, texts, and messages thru this app to contact you the evening before your trip with no answers or responses. It is very important to talk with the captain the evening before your trip (like I do every charter). Most of the things you were unhappy with would have been answered on this call. I am also certain Capt. Billy would have answered any of your questions (had you asked) about why we use 3 rods, why we had to travel as far as we did, and why we set the lines out (watching him fish).

I believe I run one of the most honest charter fishing business around. I want everyone’s expectations to be in line with what we can provide and I am here to answer any questions any time. If I am unable to contact you before the trip it is hard to let you know how the fishing has been, how the sea conditions will be, how far we will travel, what to bring, etc. It is also hard on the captain to meet your expectations when your communication with him is very minimal when he tries to initiate conversation.

I have to admit, I am a little blown away after reading this review. Since I have tried to contact you multiple times to address your issues with no response I will write this response to everyone else reading this.

I am more than willing to work with anyone who doesn’t truly have a 5 star experience with us. I can promise ALL problems or issues anybody has with their experience will be resolved in the best manner possible. I am unable to resolve Rick’s issues with his experience as Rick has not responded to my messages or calls.

I’ll start out with the positive side of this review first. I am very glad to hear Capt. Billy did “as much as possible.” There is only 3 things that I ask of my guys; be safe, friendly, and give 110% everyday. Much else beyond those 3 things are out of our control, although we do our best to work with slow fishing, bad weather, etc.

Yes, the captain is a 1 man show. Just about every charter boat in Port Canaveral operates this way. We have set our boats up with steering wheels, controls, auto pilot, and electronics in the cockpit so the captain can drive the boat as well as bait the rods, gaff the fish, and everything else. Our captains have been operating this way for 10+ years and are VERY efficient at it. 

As far as our equipment being dated. Myself nor Capt Billy are aware of any rods or reels on either of our boats that are not in proper working condition. Our rods are built by 2 local rod builders, Adventurous Custom Rods and Handler Fishing Supply. They are custom built specifically for our style of fishing. Our bottom fishing reels are Penn Senators. We have found that these reels are the toughest reels we can get our hands on for pulling on sharks, amberjacks, grouper, and snapper. These fish punish our equipment because they are so strong. I replace ALL of our bottom fishing reels every single year with a brand new set. For trolling we use Shimano Toriums for their smooth drag system, these are a very high end expensive reel. We typically get 2-3 years out of them before they are replaced with a BRAND NEW set. Our spinning reels are Daiwa Spinfishers which typically last 1-2 years and are replaced at the Captains discretion whenever they feel it is time. We also have backups on the boat in case any break on a trip they can be immediately swapped out. If any equipment is broken it is replaced before the next days trip.

Our captains have accounts at 2 different marinas and 3 different tackle shops that they can buy ANYTHING they need for their boats. One of the many things we take pride in is fishing with quality equipment and tackle. To say our rods and reels are outdated is not true.

I understand everyone loves a seafood dinner. We try our best to make sure everyone that wants to go home with some fish does so. With that being said, we do not make the laws nor do we agree with them, but unfortunately we have to follow them. On this particular trip they caught MANY Red Snappers and Sandbar sharks. Both of these species are protected so we are unable to keep them. I could go on for hours on what I think of the regulations in place but I’ll spare everyone the rant. Long story short, a lot of fish were caught but none that we could legally keep. If you would like to voice your frustrations about not having any keepers despite catching MANY delicious eating fish you should contact the Southeast Atlantic Fisheries Management Commission. They are the agency that make the regulations for our waters.

The last and final thing I have to say about this review is that every group that books with us gets a phone call and/or message the day before their trip with what I believe they should expect the next day. I give very honest fishing reports and have even given groups the option of cancelling their trips due to poor fishing if they wished. I just looked back at the message I sent before accepting this particular booking. The message stated that we had not fished in over a week due to very rough sea conditions so I really wasn’t sure what to expect fishing wise and that sometimes after a big front it is slow for a day or 2, but we were more than happy to go out there and give it our best shot on Christmas Eve, which was the first day of the week calm enough to get offshore.

Daniel, I am very sorry this was the worst trip you have ever been on. I can assure you that we are in no way here to take your money or scam you. I feel this review is unwarranted as you were completely warned and even given the chance to cancel the trip based off of the fishing reports from the previous day.

I called you the evening before and gave you the run down on the fishing. Honestly I should have cancelled your trip then because I could tell that you weren’t going to be satisfied with the way the fishing had been. You stated that you wanted to go grouper fishing on a 1/2 day charter and I informed you that it just wasn’t possible to get far enough on a 1/2 day to target grouper. You were not interested in catching and releasing fish for fun, only ones you could eat. Some days it just isn’t in the cards to have a cooler full of fish, especially on a 1/2 day. Typically on those days we switch it up to other species that are more predominant on the 1/2 day reefs, but you weren’t interested in that.

I give everyone a very honest report the day before their trip as I did you. Yes the fishing was poor but that is one thing we cannot completely control.
Let me ask you..
was the boat clean?
Was the equipment in proper working order?
Was the captain friendly and informative?
These are the things that we have control over, not the fish biting. Our captains are some of the best on the East Coast and I can promise you that Capt. Zach did everything he could for you.

Again, I apologize that we couldn’t fulfill your expectations.
