Here is a breakdown of our experience.

My party: Party of 3 amateurs on a private 6 hour morning block.

The crew: Sean, Rob and Manna were great to be around with tons of knowledge and experience. They kept us entertained throughout the entire trip. Type of guys we could chat with all day long.

The fish: The fish were not bitting much but that’s just the way it goes sometimes. We got a good bite in the early morning but lost it but ended up pulling in an awesome YellowFin Tuna in the late morning, it was a good fight and a great experience!

The boat: The boat is a large well maintained boat with great amenities such as a bathroom, fridge, microwave, couches and a fully enclosed cabin. Very comfortable.

Overall I’m giving these guys five stars because I can’t go any higher. I loved the experience, the crew and everything about the trip. Even if we had lost the second fish I would still give these guys 5 Stars!

We went out with Sean and Rob for a 6 hour tour and caught 6 fish and had many more bites along the way. It was a great expirence and great fishing. Sean was great at helping us getting the fish on board, instructing us and over all had a great time. We were able to take plenty enough fish with us to eat on our vacation and gave the rest to Rob and Sean. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a great time. We had a good day with good action so fishing was great. This for was 2 adults and 2 teenagers fishing.

This was a perfect trip for our family. We booked a 4-hour excursion, and if all we got was the amazing views of the south side of the island and the local history lesson from Captain Sean, the trip alone would have been worth it. However, we received the ultimate bonus of Captain Robert putting us on the fish!! All the kids were able to catch! Plus, we were able to experience the once in a lifetime opportunity of hooking (and landing) a Blue Marlin!

We had the best time with the guys at Makai Sportfishing! They were all very experienced and put us right on the fish. Everyone was kind and explained all instructions clearly. We took our kids and they had a great time! The boat and facilities were as advertised and the gear was in great condition. This was one of the most fun fishing excursions we have been on! We would highly recommend Makai Sportfishing and will be using them again on our next trip to Kauai!

As the title says, it was a great trip and crew.  The boat and gear was top notch, the knowledge of the captain and crew was great! The fishing was awesome, the catching could have been luckier; however, I don’t think I have ever seen a “Catching Fish Charter”. I would recommend these guys to anyone. They were also very respectful and considerate to females on the boat. The crew also had a wealth of knowledge about the Hawaiian culture and history, which added to our enrichment.
