Was out by 7AM in the water. Started off wonderful, saw whales, dolphins, stingrays and turtles. The crew was knowledgeable as I had mentioned my bf wanting to catch a marlin. We boated out for almost 3 hours and finally had a marlin, unfortunately the marlin broke the line and that was the last of the fish. I wanted to catch at least 1 fish by the end of the day, I didn’t care about the size or type. Could have been the size of my hand for all I cared lol!
We never stopped, trolled the whole time. The boat ride back felt like forever. When we got close back to the marina, we did a couple of spins around where there might be fish but never really stopped and boated straight back to the marina. Unfortunately didn’t even get to hold the fishing rod once. I had really high hopes for this, especially as people were raving about the fishing.
I know, fishing is fishing and it really depends on the day, but I feel like the fishing was more focused on catching a marlin despite having so many more fish opportunities to catch in the area. I would recommend this to others as long as they’re aware that you might not catch anything, but the fact that you get to see the way the crew fishes, potentially see whales, dolphins, rays and turtles.
It’s none of the crews fault, they were very apologetic about it and I can understand it was probably a long day for them as well. I do have plans to go back eventually and maybe fish a bit closer to land next time!
