Was looking forward to a Morning of Tarpon fishing. Tarpon weren’t hitting, but got to check off another bucket list item…..SHARKs! Caught 2 good size Lemon Sharks. One was tail hooked, hardest fight of any fish I ever caught…took almost 45 min. to get it to the boat!! Capt. Quinn was awesome. After the thrill of the sharks…caught a bunch of Snapper for Dinner. Overall a Great Morning!!!
We were a little concerned when we got to the boat because Capt. Mike said that, due to weather, fishing had been off for the past couple of days. But, with Mike's great local knowledge and superb boat handling, he put us right on our tarpon targets as soon as we reached the fishing grounds. The result: three for three on tarpon in the 40, 70, and 100+ pound categories plus a 100+ pound black tip shark as a bonus. Mike has a mate/trainee, Sarah, who was just plain great. Her very knowledgeable coaching and enthusiastic encouragement made fighting these big fish easy for us novices very enjoyable. We would book with Mike and Sarah in a heartbeat.
We had the pleasure of spending a morning fishing with Mike. He took us to several spots. Fish were a bit fickle but we caught some snapper for dinner. Mike is a guy who gets just as excited as his guests when the fish are hitting the bait. He was happy to answer all our questions concerning gear, technique and tactics since fishing here is very different from catching salmon or Walleye in Wisconsin! Highly recommend scheduling a session with him.
