Ran Out of Fuel 8 Miles Offshore
Save your money and your life!!! Either the reviews are fake or the guy has a drinking/drug problem these days. We definitely did not have the same person we read these great reviews about. He changed our pick up time, then still arrived late, had us pick up ice for him, once on his boat changed our fishing charter from a full to half day, drove my family of five eight miles offshore, did not put us on good fishing grounds, ran out of fuel, made 3 phones calls to friends to have fuel delivered while we sat there in the heat for hours. Meanwhile, told us that the fish aren’t biting because of the heat, a stark contrast to the conversation we had when we booked him-he told us of all the different species we would catch. His friend arrived, gave “capt Kevin” the fuel jug and a funnel. Kevin placed the funnel in a rod holder and began filling the boat with fuel. Thankfully the friend stopped him before he emptied the jug. With horrible, nauseating fumes and much fear for our families safety, we made it back in. Kevin proceeded to tell us that he can count on one hand how many times this has happened, that this was the 5th time. I said you are telling us you have done this before and didn’t learn from it? He replied, oh yeah, I’m not a learning man. After this unbelievable experience, he charged us $400. We paid it and got off his boat as quickly as possible, thankful to still have our lives. Also, thinking that the booking company would step in and get us a refund once they learned of our experience. We were told that they spoke to this captain, he apologized, and they thanked us for our understanding. To them and Kevin, this may have been one bad day and review. To us, this fishing trip was supposed to be the highlight of our vacation, the whole reason for choosing this destination. So in short, he ruined our vacation and our opinion of fishing booker who we found this capt through.
Cindy I hope you enjoyed your fresh scallops from the day before that the same Captain guided you and your family with no issues and or concerns from you. Also, thanks for mentioning that I got you in touch with another rental property owner to get you into a better rental hiuse. Thanks for stating that once you departed the boat, I went back to the marina and cleaned your fresh catch and delivered them to your residence….. because that is what a Captain that knew he messed up does to try to make it right.
