We booked a 9hr fishing trip for 7 guys. Captain Francisco met us at the marina and explained how the day would go. He was very friendly and made sure everyone understood what to expect. Once we boarded the boat, the crew went through all the sandwiches, snacks and drinks they had on board and we were underway. The water was VERY rough. Easily 7-9’ waves, with some that were probably close to 15’. Once we got to a fishing spot, the captain did tight circles in a small area multiple times, actually crossing lines a couple times, but hooked into 2 Mahi Mahi within the first 20 minutes. We landed both fish, but had one member sick from the circles already. We threw the fish below deck of the boat, (which did not have any ice which we found weird for a 9hr trip) and continued to fish until 2 guys were sick. Decided to head back after a little over 2hrs into the trip. The captain and crew offered to take us to a sand bar for drinks and music but we weren’t feeling up to it. The captain then offered to pay for a nearby restaurant to cook one of the fish for us for lunch, which we graciously accepted. The Mahi was amazing. There was some confusion over who was covering the check after lunch but the captain squared it up before we left. I was a little disappointed we didn’t receive any of the photos of our group and fish that the crew took when we got back, so if you book this trip, make sure to take your own photos, and understand that the water out there can be VERY rough, to the point that all the dramamine in the world won’t keep you from feeling ill.
