El Jefe Boat Charters is a company dedicated to providing the best possible fishing experience out of Puerto Peñasco. Captain Jefe Cruz will do his best to make sure the trip is tailored to your individual needs and wants. Whether you’re an experienced angler or someone who’s just starting out, you’re welcome to come aboard and have fun!
Your boat for the day is the ‘El Jefe’ - a 24’ Bayliner Trophy walkaround that’s powered by twin 115 HP Yamaha engines. Outfitted with all the necessary safety equipment and a full range of navigation electronics, she’s got all you need for a safe and productive visit to the Gulf of California.
There’s plenty to do in the Gulf angling-wise. Your main targets for the trip will usually be Triggerfish, Black Seabass, and the California Corbina. If you’re lucky, you might run into some Red Snapper as well. Shorter trips usually involve light tackle fishing only, but Capt. Jefe also has heavier tackle to use on longer excursions.
Rods, reels, and terminal tackle are all included in the price of a given trip. Not only that, but the crew will clean the catch after the trip for your convenience. Complimentary water, soda, and beer will be waiting for you on board, so feel free to bring some snacks if you like. Otherwise, don’t forget your polarized sunglasses and get ready to make some fishing memories together!

Great Holiday Fishing Trip

I took my son on his first fishing trip at sea, and Jefe was our Captain. He was very professional, patient, and knowledgeable. He knew exactly the areas he needed to be in to provide us the best opportunities for fishing. During our 4-hour trip my son and I caught over thirty fish. His boat was clean, and he kept it that way throughout the trip. He had an additional crew member, and that gentleman was extremely professional and knowledgeable as well. Overall, it was a perfect fishing day and a great first experience for my son and me. I would recommend Jefe Boat Charters to anyone.

Our first charter out of Rocky Point, so we didn't know what to expect. We were not disappointed at all. Don't let the older boat stop you, as everything worked and all equipment was provided. We started out by catching our own bait on light tackle, that was fun in itself. We then went out about 10-12 miles(6 hour charter) and anchored over a reef. The bigger tackle came out and we were into fish immediately. If we stopped getting bites, Jefe kept moving to put us back on. We ended up with 26 triggerfish, and a bonus yellowtail. We did hook a monster that we could not get to budge before it came off. Al in all, great trip, Captain speaks English and had a lot of laughs with him. Definitely going again.

El Jefe is is always a good Jefe! Never fails to make it super simple and super easy to get out, catch fish and get back in. He's really great at what he does, this has been our 7th year since we started rocking with El Jefe. Our 10 year old had a blast, and was super excited at what he caught.

We did the 4 hour trip my son and I.
We left on time.
He took us us out to catch some bate fish. Fast and easy!!
Then we went out to catch some trigger fish.
He said as soon as it hits the bottom set it and real your fish in. I was skeptical. But I did what he said.....Wow!!! Wouldn't you know it. Pretty much everytime I dropped my line I realed a fish in!!
Great time. We caught way more fish than we could eat!!!
Using El Jefe next year when we come back!!!

Jefe took four of us fishing for a 4hr trip. We caught plenty of fish, Jefe made us feel so relaxed, he had all of the equipment we needed and was very helpful in teaching us to fish. We caught plenty and as soon as the action slowed, we moved on to a new spot and immediately caught more. Our only disappointment was that we only booked the 4 hour trip instead of the full 8hrs. Next time we're going for the full day!!!
