Are you ready for an offshore trip like no other? Then join Salty Confusion Charters today for a trip you'll never forget fishing in Johns Pass. Captain Bob Poteshman is looking forward to welcoming you on board and teaching you the tricks of the trade.
Hop on board his 36' long and 14' wide Seahawk Mega fishing vessel. Air-conditioned and powered by a custom generator, comfort is a priority! We are ready to take up to 6 anglers fishing offshore. With twin 230 HP Yanmar inboard diesel engines that are completely new, this boat will get you to the fishing grounds before you know it. On board, all safety equipment is provided so you can fish with peace of mind. There is a large bathroom (marine head) as well, which makes it pleasant for any fisherman. The navigation equipment on board will help you stay on top of the fish throughout your trip.
The fish you'll be targeting will depend on which trip you choose. Novices should choose the shorter trips, which will head out 20 miles, compared to the longer trips for experienced anglers that will take you 50 miles or more from shore. Species include Red Snapper, Vermilion Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, Gag Grouper, Black Seabass, Kingfish, Amberjack, Gray Triggerfish, and more.
You'll be using top-quality rods and reels on these trips (no extra charges for equipment) from Daiwa, Penn, Shakespeare, Shimano, and Garcia. This gear won't let you down when reeling in your trophy catch. Live bait will be prepared before the trip to give you maximum time to fish. The fishing license for the day is also included in the price.
Please bring along plenty of food and drink – you'll need to keep your energy up. After the trip, your haul can be filleted by the captain. Please note, tips are not included in the trip price.

I was worried about getting seasick, but the boat was so comfortable that I felt great the whole trip. We celebrated my husband's birthday, saw dolphins, caught a baby shark and a couple of red groupers (all released). Great experience and great crew. We'd definitely do it again!

10 Hour – Mixed Bag Deluxe on March 26, 2025 • 6 adultsHad a great experience fishing with Capt Bob! Six of us took the 10 hr trip and after a bit of coaching and a couple different spots, we got into a pile of Lane snapper and huge grunts... Caught so much a few of us had to take a break cuz our wrists were hurting from pulling in so many fish! Capt Bob kept up with us removing fish, baiting hooks, and changing our rigs out when we lost a hook... Very knowledgeable and by the time we were heading back in, he felt like one of our crew!

5 Hour Morning Trip on February 15, 2025 • 4 adultsCaptain Bob was great from start to finish. Very easy to communicate. His boat was nice and wide and roomy with plenty of room to walk around. It was fully equipped with everything we needed. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. We caught at least 38 fish and kept 26 of them. When we got back to the dock, he filleted them and put them in Ziploc bags for us to take home. We will book with him again.
