Meet the beauties and variety of Belizean marine life with Captain Nato. Captain Nathaniel (Nato) Verde has over 20 years of experience as a fishing guide and he's also a native in the biggest fishing community of Belize. He will take you fishing on the northern side of the island and partly central Belize, which include inland lagoons, rivers, reefs, and wadeable flats.
Capt. Nato will take you fishing on his 24' flats boat, newly built in 2017. There's enough space for 2 guests to fish in comfort. The boat is powered by a 70 HP Yamaha engine, with a maximum cruising speed of 35 knots. She also has a poling platform, coolers, and a live bait tank.
You can fish the saltwater flats for Tarpon, Permit, and Bonefish, backcountry for Snook, or go in the second largest barrier reef of the world for Snapper, Jack Crevalle, and Barracuda. You can do spinning or fly fishing, just inform the captain in advance to check if he can supply fishing equipment.
The trip also includes snorkeling equipment upon request, lunch, water, and other soft drinks. After the trip, he will clean and fillet your catch. The only thing you need to prepare in advance is your fishing license.

Captain Nato was one of the hardest-working and most professional fishing guides I've ever had the pleasure of fishing with. From start to finish, he put in a full day of effort and expertise, consistently putting me on fish—from bonefish to tarpon to permit. His years of experience really show, and his knowledge of the water is exceptional. What stood out even more was his passion—it's clear he genuinely loves what he does, and that energy made the entire experience even better. Thank you, Captain Nato, for an unforgettable day on the water. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a top-tier fishing guide!
Went out with Capt Nato and his son for 1/2 day of flats fishing. My saltwater fly casting technique was a little rusty but Capt Nato was a great instructor and I soon had my 'double haul' working again. Great fly rods, reels, and flies along with an asortment of spinning gear. Boat was well organized and comfortable. Although the weather did not cooperate with rain and wind most of the morning, the Capt found and put us on several schools of bonefish based on his extensive knowledge of the waters surrounding Ambergris Caye. I will definitely go out with him again when back in Belize. If you are looking for a professional flats fishing guide who will coach you to make you better, Capt Nato is your guy.
I had an amazing day out with Captain Nato, which also happened to be my first time on the flats! The guidance was excellent, I was put into a school of a thousand Bones within 20 minutes of leaving port. Listen to any advice he gives you and genuinely be curious, ask the questions you want to know as he is passionate about where he lives and what he gets to do. Thanks Nato, I'll be back for sure!

Capt. Nato creates a great atmosphere on the boat and someone you can easily spend alot of time with. Give him time and you will realise how much he knows about the local environment and the fish behaviours. A true master. Nato helped me significantly improve my fly cast. He's a good coach and supportive. He's worked at some of the well known fishing lodges so perhaps from this. My favourite of the few guides i've spent time with. Thank you Nato i hope to be back
Even though the weather conditions were a little windy and not great for fishing, they still provided the best possible experience for my son and I. super nice guys, worked hard and we still made memories!
