You will be sailing aboard Calypso II, a 28' center console boat built by the Captain. It's powered by twin 115 HP Yamaha engines and is equipped with navigational electronics, so it'll put you on the fish in no time. The boat can accommodate up to 4 anglers, and there's a toilet on board for your convenience.
The crew will provide you with all the fishing equipment, and you'll fish using live bait. There's a fighting chair on board so you can reel in some of those monsters. The crew will be happy to clean and fillet your catch after the trip, so you can take it home for a taste, or to fill the freezer.
You will be able to choose among a great variety of trips, depending on where you want to go, and how much time you have. Each trip can be customized to suit any angler's needs. There's a lot of beautiful places you can explore here, so feel free to take a look and find the trip that speaks to you most.

6hr ONLY FISHING IN THE BAY (5pax) on January 15, 2025 • 2 adultsWe booked the 6 hour trip and fished mostly the north part of the bay near Punta Mita. Our two deckhands were extremely friendly and helpful. It took about 45 mins to get to the fishing grounds. Then we started trolling. 100% of the fishing was trolling with artificials. As soon as there was a bite, the deck hands hand you the rod and you reel in the fish. We had a great day and caught about 14 Spanish mackerel and 2 Bonita. About half way through the trip, one of the deck hands prepared sushi and ceviche with the freshly caught fish. They also filleted all our catch and we get a solid 4 lbs of fish. We then took our fish to the little hut restaurant in the marina and they prepared delicious chicharon and pescado a la plancha with our catch. 10/10 recommend.

10hr-3pax(offshore fishing) on October 5, 2024 • 2 adultsMy son and I came to PV specifically to fish. I chose CALYPSO for a variety of reasons. ABSOLUTELY the right choice. Captain Ariel & 1st Mate Eric went above and beyond. We did the ten hour trip, looking for tuna and marlin. The weather was fantastic, which made for an easy trip outside the bay. Within ten minutes of putting the lines in, my son landed a huge sailfish! Longer than the boat is wide huge! This was soon followed by a large blue marlin strike, landing two more sail fish, several tuna strikes, and finally landing a small tuna! During all of this, Ariel and Eric kept the lines straight, the boat clean, answering all of our many questions (Ariel is bi-lingual, Eric speaks decent english), sharing the history of Puerto Vallarta...just amazing guest services. Not only did Eric surprise us with some delicious fresh ceviche, but he also processed our tuna, all while the boat was underway. Eric has some impressive knife skills! My son and I are already planning our return trip. Fishing with Captain Ariel and Eric on board the Calypso will now be an annual event for the two of us. What an incredible day! Thank you again, Captain Ariel and 1st mate Eric.

6hr ONLY FISHING IN THE BAY (5pax) on September 26, 2024 • 3 adultsWe came into Puerto Vallarta for a family trip. I had researched this crew beforehand and they came through with a blast. Booked a 6 hour Bay trip, and being a little worried we would not be leaving the bay, they did not disappoint. Started off at 7am catching some skip jack for bait and enjoying the amazing view with the sunrise over the mountains. While it was quiet we had a great time with music, beers, and fresh ceviche the deckhand prepared. After some time passing we made our way deeper into the bay and captain Ariel spotted a Mahi which we targeted, later catching a mahi on live bait in that same location. While we took pictures with the mahi, captain hooked a huge Sailfish! What a fight. Teaching us through the fight we caught the sailfish and brought it aboard after 35-40 minutes. Such an adrenaline rush! Couldnt be happier with the trip and very accommodating crew! Thank you. I would recommend this charter to anyone and would love to go out with them again.

8hr fishing only-4passengers max !! on July 10, 2024 • 3 adults • 1 childWe joined Ariel for an 8 hour fishing trip and he and his crew mate were amazing. They were super knowledgable, helpful and patient, even helping to teach my 12 year old son to cast. They took us up around Punta Mita and Sayuita where we landed a 96 inch sailfish, a huge rooster, another huge needlefish, and my son’s first fish - a good size mahi. And this was on a dead day where other boats struggled. We had an amazing time and I would strongly recommend Calypso as an anglers best shot at a great charter trip in PVR. Thank you Ariel for the awesome memories and helping to hook my son on the sport.

Captain Ariel was easy to communicate with before arriving, knowing what we needed and dealing with port fees etc. On the day of the trip, we went with Hector and Fernando and they were great hosts and guides. We ended up catching 28 Bonita, only losing a few (our error), including one much larger fish(unseen). After an onslaught of fishing we pivoted to seeing some whales and dolphins for a while, before finishing the day with a little more slow fishing. Captain and crew were great. Would book again.

Great boat and crew. fishing was a little slow. But we still caught a couple skip jacks. and seen a lot of cool things like stingrays, and Dolphins.
