Spice up your vacation, and join Calypso Charters to explore the prolific fishing grounds out of Puerto Vallarta in Mexico! Captain Ariel Rosen grew up on these waters, so he’ll show you all the best places where you can reel in those bucket-list specimens.
You will be sailing aboard Calypso II, a 28’ center console boat built by the Captain. It’s powered by twin 115 HP Yamaha engines and is equipped with navigational electronics, so it’ll put you on the fish in no time. The boat can accommodate up to 4 anglers, and there’s a toilet on board for your convenience.
The crew will provide you with all the fishing equipment, and you’ll fish using live bait. There’s a fighting chair on board so you can reel in some of those monsters. The crew will be happy to clean and fillet your catch after the trip, so you can take it home for a taste, or to fill the freezer.
You will be able to choose among a great variety of trips, depending on where you want to go, and how much time you have. Each trip can be customized to suit any angler’s needs. There’s a lot of beautiful places you can explore here, so feel free to take a look and find the trip that speaks to you most.
A day out with Capt. Ariel will see you sailing to a remote beach, having a delicious lunch on the beach, and, of course, targeting the fish of your dreams! Among your targeted species will be Wahoo, Tuna, Snook, Snapper, Sailfish, Marlin, Roosterfish, King Mackerel, Mahi Mahi, Jack Crevalle, and Amberjack.

Captain Ariel contacted us the day before our trip to ask what we are looking to catch. He gave us his assessment and had several recommendations of where we could go with the best chance of finding fish. Well, we took one of his recommendations and caught more fish than we ever expected.
I live in Alaska and fish in the ocean throughout the summer and have many friends who are charter operators/guides. I would put Captain Ariel among the best of them for working his tail off to try to keep his clients happy.
You will not find a better crew in the PV area!

Fun Filled Day of 🎣 Fishing

I highly recommend this trip for anyone…from a novice to an experienced fisherman. Boat was very clean, crew was excellent & friendly. There was a variety of equipment on the boat. We caught plenty of fish with breathtaking scenery. Added bonus seeing dolphins & turtles & to top it all off FRESH & tasty ceviche entree was prepared by our Captain. I highly recommend Calypso!

Amazing trip on the water with plenty of fish on deck
6hr ONLY FISHING IN THE BAY (5pax) on January 15, 2025 • 2 adults
We booked the 6 hour trip and fished mostly the north part of the bay near Punta Mita. Our two deckhands were extremely friendly and helpful. It took about 45 mins to get to the fishing grounds. Then we started trolling. 100% of the fishing was trolling with artificials. As soon as there was a bite, the deck hands hand you the rod and you reel in the fish. We had a great day and caught about 14 Spanish mackerel and 2 Bonita. About half way through the trip, one of the deck hands prepared sushi and ceviche with the freshly caught fish. They also filleted all our catch and we get a solid 4 lbs of fish. We then took our fish to the little hut restaurant in the marina and they prepared delicious chicharon and pescado a la plancha with our catch. 10/10 recommend.

Eric and Sammy were awesome. Put us on fish almost immediately!! We ended up with 13 fish overall. We had a much better experience than in years past with previous guides. They did everything they could to put us on big fish. Sammy made some of the best ceviche from fresh caught Spanish mackerel that I've ever had. Ariel communicated via text or email everyday prior to our trip. We've chartered several other fishing trips in the past at PV, and hands down this was the best. 10 of 10. Would recommend.

skip jack and a nice grade of three Mahi Mahi! the crew worked the outrigger dance perfectly when there was a hook up. fresh sashimi to finish out the day. a morning well spent!
