The Captain, staff and crew were great very friendly and open to sharing information and experiences on the water. We had 5 fish in the set, 1 striped marlin and 4 dorado, but unfortunately didn’t get hooked up. The dorado we found were a bit noncommittal but the marlin came in hot, hitting the starboard side mackerel twice before slashing through the set and hammering the our port side mackerel. The action was definitely fast and furious at times which resulted in some nice adrenaline spikes. I appreciated how diligent the captain and crew were working, and would definitely book again. Aside from fishing action, we saw a few dolphin pods, several breaching whales and met Poncho the local sea lion.

All and all on solid day on the water, looking forward to putting fish in the boat next trip.

The fishing experience was excellent!  However, there are several items to keep in mind when fishing from Cabo. The fishing licenses will cost $16 USD per angler which will be provided at the dock.  There is a dock fee of $1 USD per angler to get on the boat.  You can purchase beer from vendors upon arrival for $1.50 USD per can.  Ice was provided on the boat.  Bring your lunch items with you as we were unable to find any for purchase at 7am. Finally, be prepared to purchase LIVE Bait - $30 USD for ten baits - more about this below.

The captain and mate are very experienced.  They were able to locate marlin “finning” on the surface and present the live bait to the marlin.  Our party had a multiple hookup with two striped marlin.  As we did not desire to have a “trophy” marlin, we performed catch and release.  The best the angler can hope for is the get the marlin beside the boat for pictures as the crew stated it is difficult to boat the marlin for pictures and then release. I don’t think we would have had the same results with only natural bait and lures. Buy the live baits as they are worth the price!

As for the marlins, one was approximately 180 lbs and the larger was approximately 210 lbs!  We did not have any luck catching anything fish for dinner but we could not complain - we caught two marlin!

The views from the boat are outstanding and we were able to see multiple whales jumping during the trip!  Upon returning to the marina, be prepared to photograph the sea lions as they jump on the boat’s swim platform and beg for any remaining live baits.

Great day!  I would definitely recommend a trip on El Budster Pride.
