If you’re up for some fun and exciting river and lake fishing, Southern Sun Guides is the right place to go. Captain Chad Keeter welcomes you to Weldon, North Carolina and he’s eager to use his knowledge and skills to make your trip as best as possible.
For your trip, you’ll be using a 19’ Lowe aluminum fishing boat that can sit up to 3 anglers. It’s powered by a 90 HP Yamaha engine and has got quality GPS and fishfinder systems to keep you on the track of your prey. There is also an onboard livewell to supply you with live bait.
You’ll be chasing Striped Bass, one of the most popular game fish in the USA. Using light tackle, you can bottom fish, spin, jig, as well as drift fish. Choose for yourself whether you’ll release the fish you’ve caught or take it home and have some tasty meals. Also, be free to bring your kids on the trip as well. The captain loves having them around and it’s a great opportunity for you to have a lovely family outing.
Captain Chad will cover you for all the rods, reels, and tackle, as well as for live bait and lures. Before you leave, make sure you’ve packed your fishing licenses. You might need to refresh yourself during the trip, so pack some food and drinks as well.

Great day on the water. Chad was very knowledgeable of not only the species we were after but shared information that will help me on future fishing adventures for other fish found in the river. We caught lots of shad. Chad could not have been more helpful in insuring that my wife and I had a wonderful experience.

Excellent day stripped bass fishing
Had an incredible day with Southern Sun Guides today. The boat was well equipped for a day on the water. We had an early start to our half day of fishing and Chad put us on fish right away. We caught fish all day. We caught 58 total fish today including 5 shad and one blue cat fish. Chad was an excellent guide and took excellent care of us today. I would highly recommend him as a guide. We will definitely use him again when fishing for rockfish.
