You’ll be fishing from a 21’ Sea Ark bay boat that can accommodate up to 4 anglers. It’s run by a 115 HP Suzuki engine that can reach a maximum cruising speed of 30 knots, uses modern navigation technology comprised of GPS and fishfinder, and uses a wireless trolling motor in order to make a quieter approach to the fish. The boat’s also goat a livewell to supply you with live bait and an ice-box to store your fish and drinks.

Half day Shad

Good trip, fishing not so great. I have fished this spot on the Roanoke for both shad and Rockfish for over 30 years. I have had great days and then some like we had yesterday. Good news is we caught 1 shad, and it was by the one in our group who had never even seen a shad in his life. Kind of made the trip! That day was the ONLY day we could go on this trip and we tried even though the conditions did not look promising. River had risen 10 feet overnight so visibility was poor with a lot of mud and debris, current was strong, and temperature was in the 30's. Captain Burrell, in my opinion, did everything right. We fished all the good spots in the main river channel, the little river, and even above the falls where the water levels were lower but the rocks are treacherous and you really have to know the river to avoid damage to your motor. I recommend Captain Burrell and I would like to give him another shot when the striped bass are back in Weldon.
