Trolling is the name of the game when it comes to Lake Ontario Trout and Salmon fishing. During the months of April and May, the primary targeted species is the Brown Trout and Lake Trout. These months provide excellent angling opportunities for world-class trophy caliber fish. The warming waters of the shorelines provide quick and consistent action for a range of species. It is not uncommon to catch Walleye, Northern Pike, Lake Trout, Smallmouth Bass, or Salmon while trolling in the spring.
As the season progresses and the water warms, the action during the month of June switches to Trophy Lake Trout as all anglers await the thermocline to set up and the Salmon to follow. From July, thru September the name of the game is Salmon. Trolling with large 'spreads' of rods, and using all the latest techniques and tackle, you will not have a shortage of King Salmon, Coho Salmon, Atlantic Salmon, and Steelhead.
In September the game changes to back bay fishing in the harbors around Henderson Harbor and Chaumont Bay for Northern Pike, Pickerel, Walleye, Smallmouth Bass and Yellow Perch!
Over The Rail Sportfishing looks forward to seeing you on the water making memories and providing you with a trip or catch of a lifetime!

We booked both a half-day and a full-day trip with Captain Justin at Over the Rail Sportsfishing, and I can’t recommend him highly enough. The half-day trip was a little slow, but that’s fishing, not the captain. What impressed us was that Justin never stopped working. Then on our full-day trip, we absolutely slammed the Lake Trout, and it was obvious why. I’ve never met a captain who knows the water, the fish, and their patterns as well as Justin. His work ethic is incredible. He was constantly adjusting, changing tactics, and doing whatever it took to keep us on fish. Watching him expertly manage 12 lines in the water for our group of five guys was impressive in itself. His skill, speed, professionalism, courtesy, and knowledge are second to none. He works incredibly hard from start to finish and genuinely wants his clients to have the best possible experience. Every one of us came away saying the same thing: if you’re looking for a charter captain who will outwork just about anyone and put you in the best position to catch fish, book Captain Justin. We all highly recommend him, and we’ll definitely be back!
We had an excellent experience with Over the Rails! Due to weather conditions, Justin actually recommended that we come early and head out on a different boat with a partner captain. He was very accommodating, helped us get the most out of the day before high winds and rain. The captain was very knowledgeable and put our entire party onto fish. Highly recommend, would definitely book again!
Justin made our trip the trip of a lifetime. Timely, organized, sociable, knowledgeable, honorable are just a few of the words to describe him. His fishing experience was incredible and his ability to explain what he’s doing to put our group on the fish. Amazing captain, fisherman, and gentleman. Our group is going to make this a yearly trip with Over The Rail charter. Thank you again sir.
We caught several species of salmon, brown trout, and lake trout captain worked hard for us. We had a great day.

This was out first experience salmon fishing and let me just say how great Justin was. Professional, knowledgeable about the fish and he worked aimlessly to make sure we got bites and landed salmon. the fish were tempermental, but we did manage to land W fat kings. Justin now has new customers for as long he owns and operates that boat. highly recommend this fine captain and his companion Cooper!! thanks justin!!
