The species you can target include Spotted Seatrout, Flounder, and Redfish. You and Captain John will try to catch them using light tackle and you're free to keep all the fish you catch and take it home. If you wish to bring kids on your trip, feel free to do so. They always make the atmosphere on board more fun and they may easily love the marine world.
All the rods, reels, terminal tackle, live bait, and lures will be ready for you when you arrive, and the captain will also clean and fillet your catch if you want him to. What you should bring on your trip are only your fishing licenses and the food and drinks of your choice.

Can’t say enough good things about Capt John Wood. He is extremely personable and knowlegeable with the Rockport fishing areas and knows where the fish are. Although conditions could have been better, Capt John immediately put us on fish and we were quick to limit out on specs and also brought in 3 nice reds between 25 to 27 1/2 inches. It was an all around great experience for our party of 4 and all highly recommend Capt John Wood.

Great charter in Rockport, TX! John was a responsive, flexible, relaxed, and enthusiastic guide for our group of four. His knowledge of the bay landed us our limit before the morning was over, and we all went home with cleaned fish ready for the grill! His boat was clean and well-maintained, and the seats made for a comfy ride to and from the dock. Highly recommend this charter for fisherman of all levels. Capt John Wood was great! We booked 2 days for 3 people. We caught our limit of spotted trout each day and had to throw back 5 trout that were too big--one was 25.5 inches. Red fish were not biting too well (not really the season), but we did catch one big red. Highly Recommend!

Captain John was exceptional. He was 100% about customer experience, not his schedule. Baited & casted for my wife and then let her reel'em in. Pleasant to have conversations with while we fished. Had specific spots for Spec's and then Red's, and we got some of both. He worked hard to make sure we caught fish and we got every bit of the 6hr trip we booked. He's an experienced, wise, and good man. We're coming back, with friends!

Despite some challenging weather, John proved to be an exceptional captain and guide. His expertise, positive attitude, and deep knowledge of the water made the entire experience fantastic.
