Captain John Wood is a cordial and skilled angler who'll see that you have a great time on the water and return home with a respectable catch. Join him on the inshore waters around Rockport and have a memorable fishing experience you'll certainly wish to relive!
You'll fish from a 24' Haynie bay boat that can sit up to 4 anglers and runs on a 225 HP Mercury engine. It uses modern GPS technology as well as a radar for effective navigation and is equipped with a livewell to supply you with livebait.
The species you can target include Spotted Seatrout, Flounder, and Redfish. You and Captain John will try to catch them using light tackle and you're free to keep all the fish you catch and take it home. If you wish to bring kids on your trip, feel free to do so. They always make the atmosphere on board more fun and they may easily love the marine world.
All the rods, reels, terminal tackle, live bait, and lures will be ready for you when you arrive, and the captain will also clean and fillet your catch if you want him to. What you should bring on your trip are only your fishing licenses and the food and drinks of your choice.

Although conditions could have been better, Capt John immediately put us on fish and we were quick to limit out on specs and also brought in 3 nice reds between 25 to 27 1/2 inches. It was an all around great experience for our party of 4 and all highly recommend Capt John Wood.

We moved a couple of times when the action slowed. He definitely knows the spots. We each caught 3 22-23" Redfish and get to go home dreaming of a fish fry. ❤️

Full Day Trip on June 9, 2026 • 3 adultsThe weather shut down the trout bite and slowed the redfish bite, but still came home with 3 nice redfish ( 1 was 28”+). Captain John worked hard trying to keep us on the fish but they weren’t feeding. Bonus, we hooked up several big alligator gars, didn’t keep them but they sure were a hoot to catch! We will definitely be back!

Friendly, knowledgeable, and he put us on fish right away. He was also at the ramp waiting for us 100% ready to go. We parked the truck. jumped on the boat, and took off immediately. We will be back to fish with Capt. John again.

We then relocated and got our limit on black drum, and for a bonus even got a few trout. Could not ask for more. Very knowledgeable Captain and kept things fun and exciting. Captain John was exceptional. He was 100% about customer experience, not his schedule. Baited & casted for my wife and then let her reel'em in. Pleasant to have conversations with while we fished. Had specific spots for Spec's and then Red's, and we got some of both. He worked hard to make sure we caught fish and we got every bit of the 6hr trip we booked. He's an experienced, wise, and good man. We're coming back, with friends!
