Healy Outdoors provides guided drift boat and wading trips on the Salmon River and Oswego River. Based out of Altmar, New York, you and Captain Michael Healy will head out to your desired freshwater destination and have a great time trying to catch various species. The captain knows the area well and knows how to make your trip a successful one, so join him aboard and have a lovely day of fishing rivers or lakes!

Up to 3 anglers per a drift boat. If your party is more than 3 message me and I will bring on another guide. The boat you’ll be fishing aboard is a 16’ Hyde drift boat that runs via man power (oars) or on a 6 HP Nissan engine.

The species you’ll be chasing include Steelhead (Rainbow Trout), Brown Trout, King (Chinook) and Coho Salmon. We use various methods to target these species such as; trolling, casting, float fishing, fly fishing, and plunking. You decide whether you want to keep the fish you catch or release it back to the water. Youths are always welcome and encouraged to join in aim to perpetuate the sport. Bring them as well and have a great family outing together.

Your guide will provide both regular and fly fishing gear, live bait, lures and any other fishing gear you will need except chest waders. You should bring your fishing licenses, a pair of chest waders, and something to eat and drink so you stay refreshed.

    Salmon is most active in low-light conditions like most fish, so why not fish it at night? We’ll be mostly casting spoons and crankbaits, but why not take some time to troll too? We encourage casting because despite popular opinion on salmon not biting. This trip will prove that false on top of allowing you to feel the sheer power of angry salmon smacking your lure and just about pulling the rod out of your hands. These fights on light spinning rods are epic and no joke.

    On these trips, we take our specialized boat to target a variety of species based on what’s around. You can catch Pike, Bass, Crappie, Bowfin, Walleye, and Perch. This trip allows us to hit more spots than the 4-hour trip and makes for a relaxing trip with more room for action. If you want to actively fish instead of watching trolling rods, this is the trip for you.

    *At least 4 hours, up to 6 hours* This is an afternoon trip for those looking to get out on the water and get away from the crowded river. These trips are based on sunset and are at least 4 hours up to 6 hours. In September, we will fish the Salmon River estuary and in October we will switch gears to Oswego doing both trolling and casting for aggressive biting salmon.
