Lucky Lass Haleiwa Charters is a family-owned fishing company located in Haleiwa, Hawaii. It offers small intimate bottom fishing tours and trolling out of Haleiwa Harbor. Captain Matthew Ratoni can’t wait to get you hooked up on a fish off the famous North Shore Oahu. The captain offers a different charter fishing experience than most North Shore charters, allowing you to target rarely sought-after trophy fish. Join him aboard and have a fishing trip to remember!
Your adventure will take place on the captain’s 20’ Shamrock offshore sport fishing boat. It runs on a 135 HP diesel inboard engine, uses modern navigation electronics, and can accommodate up to 3 anglers. The boat is also equipped with outriggers and a livewell and features a multimedia system and an ice-box. Just please note that we allowed three guests, but the weight limit is 600 lbs.
Captain Matthew uses both light and heavy tackle and offers bottom fishing, deep sea fishing, trolling, spinning, jigging, as well as drift fishing. The wide choice of species you can fish for includes Yellowfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Green Jobfish, Rainbow Runner, Bluefin and Giant Trevally, Wahoo, and many more. You’re allowed to keep the fish you catch and you’re welcome to bring kids on the boat.
The captain will take care of all the fishing rods, reels, tackle, lures, and live bait. If you choose to keep your catch, he can also clean it and fillet it for you at no extra fee. Before you start the trip, just be sure to have some snacks, drinks, and your fishing licenses. Please note that there is a 5% state tax and 3% harbor tax that is not included in the price.

I took my adult son out fishing when we were in Hawaii to drop him off for school. We wanted to get out and have some action. We wanted to have a chance at catching an Ono or Mahi or even a Tuna, but we did not want to spend the whole day trolling around. So Captain Matt suggested a trip that included some time trolling for pelagic fish, but also included some bottom fishing for several hours to go after some sought after bottom fish. The trip was exactly what we were looking for. We caught some nice Uku to take home and enjoy. We had a great time, and Captain Matt is just a very friendly Captain.

The Captain of the Lucky Lass was very professional and explained the planned charter. He called me the night before and give me instructions on the meeting place and what to expect for the day. We caught a nice Mahi fish and our kids had a beautiful memory for the rest of their life. If you are on the fence and you don’t know if you want to book this charter, just book it and you will thank yourself for going on this fishing charter. I will be back as soon as I can get back to the Hawaiian islands.

Left early morning of to try and beat boat traffic
good company, good boat, and good views.
Checked off multiple things! Each one of us caught a fish, saw some whales, and achieved what we wanted to do!

We had a great trip with Captain Matthew! He located several tuna schools, but unfortunately none of them wanted to bite. On the way back to the harbor, the reel finally started screaming and we managed to catch a marlin! It was one of the best experiences of my life as a passionate angler. Matthew is a cool and very laid-back guy. We genuinely enjoyed the trip with him.

Was my first ever fishing charter and first time fishing in salt water. Matt was super awesome. Told me everything I needed to know and answered any questions I had. Started with catching a bunch of bait fish, which was fun in itself. And then Ended up catching an awesome mahi mahi.
I will definitely be booking again if I come back, and I would suggest anyone else to book this!!!
