These waters are home to Tarpon, Snook, Jack Crevalle, Great Barracuda, Ladyfish and more. You can expect to do some spinning or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Luis also offers fly fishing trips. During your adventure, you'll enjoy the amazing scenery in Laguna Torrecilla, one of the most complex ecosystems in the area.
You'll be casting lines from a 22' Boston Whaler with a capacity for 6 passengers. It has all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you. Live bait is available, but be sure to ask about it ahead of time, so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.
Some species might be protected, so make sure you know what to expect. Keep in mind that Tarpon is catch-and-release only. Families making a day of it will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard (up to 7 years old)! It's always wise to bring snacks, sunblock (non-spray), and sunglasses. Capt. Luis will have some drinks available for you.

There were five of us on the boat. We booked the 6 hour afternoon trip, from noon-6pm. My husband and my brother have always wanted to catch Tarpon so it was definitely a bucket list item. We went 4 for 4 today! He was an amazing guide. Kind of quiet, but it paid off because we caught fish. At the end of our trip, we had a pelican quite close to the boat several times. This allowed us to notice that he had a hook in him. Captain Luis lured him in with a sardine, and with my assistance was able to get the hook out. He was quite injured so he called the rescue to see if they could come out and help. Hands-down 10 out of 10, would highly recommend!!!!

Outstanding Experience with Captain Luis - Highly recommend We had such an incredible first day with Captain Luis that we immediately booked a second trip - and he absolutely delivered again! We went out specifically targeting Tarpon, and while the bite was slower than usual, Captain Luis worked his magic to make sure we still had a successful day on the water. His knowledge of the local waters and backup spots really showed when he adapted our strategy to keep the action going. We never felt like we were just sitting around waiting - Luis always had a plan to put us on fish. What really sets Captain Luis apart is his personality and professionalism. 6 Hour Trip PM Big Tarpon
Amazing Trip
Took my 14-year-old son on a fishing trip yesterday, and it was absolutely incredible! We were lucky enough to catch 10 tarpon, and one of them was a massive 60-pounder – a true beast! Watching my son reel that one in was a moment I’ll never forget. Our guide, Luis, was phenomenal from start to finish. His energy, patience, and expertise made the entire experience smooth, fun, and exciting. He knew exactly where to go and made sure my son felt confident and involved the entire time. We had such a blast – laughs, high-fives, and memories we’ll be talking about for years. This trip turned out to be the highlight of our vacation and something we’ll cherish forever. Can’t recommend it enough!!!

Capt Luis had a battle with some toxic food. He could not fish and i thought for sure our day was over before it started. NOPE. He had capt Luke fill in and run his boat for us. Capt Luke reminded me of capt Luis. All he wanted was for us to catch fish and enjoy our day. He did everything he could to give us a chance. And then bam. 80 lber screeming drag and my 13 year old was on his fish of a lifetime. Giant fish jumped 8 feet out of the water right next to the boat. My son and I will rember that 15 minute battle the rest of our lives. These guys are class act and know their Stuff. Thank you Calt Luke and Capt Luiz. You guys are awsome and I cant wait to fish with you again someday.

Had a great outing with Luis for a 6 hour trip. I let him know I wanted to go after the big ones and he tailored the bait and tackle to ensure we got one to the boat. Had a few fish spit the hook or not dully take the bait, mostly due to my errors and them being smart fish that are tricky. But that didn't really matter, as I got a really nice one to the boat after a hard fight. Do your research on how to land these fish and listen to what your captain has to say, and you'll have high chances of getting one to the boat. Also, fishing (and fishing for the big ones) requires patience, so sit back and relax while you wait for your bite. I'm looking forward to my next trip down to PR, to target the big ones yet again.

Had a great outing with Luis for a 6 hour trip. I let him know I wanted to go after the big ones and he tailored the bait and tackle to ensure we got one to the boat. Had a few fish spit the hook or not dully take the bait, mostly due to my errors and them being smart fish that are tricky. But that didn't really matter, as I got a really nice one to the boat after a hard fight.
