Based out of San Juan, Grillofishing Charters is your ticket to a memorable time on the water.

Capt. Luis aims to tailor every trip to your specific needs, so let him know what you’re after! Depending on the trip and species, you’ll be using techniques like trolling, drift fishing, jigging, and spinning. You’re looking at 4-hour trips, where you’ll usually go after the likes of Tarpon, Snook, Jack Crevalle, King Mackerel, Barracuda, and Mahi, depending on the weather and time of year.

Your adventure begins on board a 21’ Mako boat that can fit a maximum of 3 anglers. The boat is fitted with an ice box.

When it comes to rods, reels, and terminal tackle, everything you need is included in the price, but you are welcome to bring your own. As for fishing licenses, everything will be taken care of by the captain so you don’t have to worry about it.

You’ll be able to keep any legal species caught during the trip, and some species are catch-and-release only.

Capt. Luis runs trips together with his first mate on certain offshore trips, who’s there to help you with whatever you may need. Tips are always appreciated for a job well done.

The price of your trip also includes complimentary snacks,water & sodas! but you’re welcome to bring your own. Please let the captain know if you have any questions or special requests.

Children, are welcome aboard so you’re good to get the young ones started early. Children’s 8 yrs up. Thanks!

4 or 6 Hour Trip – Reef Fishing on January 17, 2026 • 1 adult

I book a reef fishing but unfortunately the weather forecast was not good. Captain Luis called me to warned me a we agree to see what was the best on the day of the trip, either reef or inland fishing. On the day of the trip, we first catched fish in the bay after seeing birds hunting. We then tried tarpons inland. We saw a lot of them, but they were not in the mood for eating. We finally went to try some reef fishing and catched yellow tail and red snapper. Captain Luis knows his job and the place and adapts to fishes that are sometime not hungry. I will definitely go for another trip with him next time I'm in San Juan

Monster Tarpon

Inshore! Pm fishing trip! on December 27, 2025 • 2 adults

Capt took us through the bay to the canals in search of tarpon. We anchored near the mangroves and could see the swirling near the boat teasing us. We finally hooked into a smaller one, about 2 feet in length. My son had a blast reeling him in. We hung around a bit longer and hooked into a monster! Once it took the bait the reel started screaming as it took line. My son was struggled for a good fifteen minutes before landing it along side the boat with the Captain's help. It was close to 4 foot long and Capt estimated it weighed between 50-60 lbs as he had 2 hands on it mouth lifting it up along side the boat! So much fun!!

Beautiful trip out of San Juan with a wonderful Mahi!

Trip was great - long review so please read it through. When you book a trip, there are things the crew can control - the weather is not one of them. We both independently checked weather reports and the wind was not supposed to be a factor - unfortunately it was. This resulted in a longer ride out to rough waters where we were prepared to go 'popping' for pelagics. We were forced to go closer to shore for trolling. Even this was a little difficult with the winds and no boats were catching fish. That didn't stop Luis and his mate Danny from working their tails off, putting multiple lines in the water for us, and eventually getting us a beautiful Mahi which resulted in some fresh sashimi prepared by the mate on shore, lunch prepared at the restaurant at the marina, and an additional few portions to bring home in our cooler. I'd recommend this boat for 2 anglers looking to have a fun time in San Juan. First off, you're in the harbor which is just beautiful and you get the seaside view of del Morro which is priceless. Then the experience of bringing in fish in these beautiful waters was something I won't soon forget. Thank you for a great trip guys!

Deep sea fishing.

4 or 6 hour's Offshore! Trip!? on September 12, 2025 • 3 adults

Captain Luis contacted me few days before the scheduled trip. He sent location. All info was discussed. Everything was provided by him. Water, can cokes, couple of can beers and snacks were provided. Boat was clean. Bait was prepared in advance which helped when we got on Mahi-Mahi. Caught them fast while the fish were biting due to his preparation. I had 2 family members that never fished before with me. We all had a great experience!!! We all took pictures n videos to remember our experience!! We did not catch any other species of fish but that's ok. Captain Luis provided the best backdrop of El Morro w us holding our catch for pictures. Again before he cleaned the fish upon our return. Captain Luis filleted the fish afterwards. I would recommend him to any angler or beginner fisherman. Thank you again!!!

It started off as a slow morning, but Luis didn't give up—he worked hard to find the fish and put us right on the monster tarpon! Landing that fish absolutely made my entire day. Luis is not only a skilled and dedicated guide, but also funny, personable, and just a great time to be around. He even provided snacks and drinks, which was such a nice touch. If you're looking for someone who knows his stuff and will go the extra mile to make sure you have an unforgettable fishing experience, Luis is your guy!
