Blue Ridge Troutfitters
We offer Guided Half and Full Day Float Trips on the Toccoa River in Blue Ridge, GA. The Toccoa is a year-round fishery. We target rainbow and brown trout with light spinning rods and fly rods. We are strictly a catch and release only guide service. We provide all the gear and tackle. All experience levels are welcome, including children ages 10+ as long as they are accompanied by an adult. All anglers 16 years of age and older will need valid Georgia Fishing Licenses. Clients are responsible for purchasing their own licenses. We are flexible on start times for Half Day Floats. That said, there will always be a better time to fish. Guides will inform clients the night before around 5PM on when we think the best time to fish will be, but we are also generally open to fishing at less-than-optimal times (within reason) if that is what clients want to do. Full Day Floats typically start between 7-9AM depending on the time of year. All boats will have a cooler on board with ice, water, and room for anything clients want to bring. Hat and sunglasses recommended. Bring rain jackets just in case. Guides have emergency ponchos on board in case clients don't have rain jackets. All guides have first aid on board. We use non-motorized drift boats for these trips. Each boat seats 2 plus a guide. The guide sits in the middle and rows. 1 client sits in the front and the other sits in the back. These boats are very stable, comfortable, and allow clients to fish safely from either a seated or standing position. Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions before you book. Please also message for groups of more than 4 as we can likely accommodate with advance notice. Once you've booked, I will touch base ASAP to answer any initial questions you may have and make sure you have my #. From there, I typically don't reach out again until the night before around 5PM when I call to go over specifics for the next day (meeting time, location, etc).

Both guides took extra time to help 3 first time fly fishermen/women figure out every aspect of the trip. My wife and Kids caught several fish and had a blast. these guys weren’t collecting a check, they enjoyed teaching and it showed.

Thanks, Stephen!

Our guide was very helpful, knowledgeable, and patient with my son and I. We each caught a handful of fish and it was a beautiful day on the river! Highly recommend!

Thanks, Dave!

Thanks, Griffin!

Zach put us on the trout under difficult conditions. The water was extremely cloudy from the rains but we were able to catch trout with his guidance and expertise.

Thanks, Jim!
Zach and Joe were great. We’re already planning our next trip and will book with them. We are a group of fishing enthusiasts who are newer to fly fishing and our guides did an amazing job teaching us the ropes. We highly recommend you book your next trip with Blue Ridge Troutfitters!

Thanks, Jonathan! Looking forward to next time!

Hey Folks! This is Zach. I am the owner and head guide of Blue Ridge Troutfitters. I was born and raised here in Blue Ridge, GA. I attended college at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega, GA. After college, I served as a middle school science teacher and basketball coach for 7 years. I like to think that my time as an educator helped equip me with the patience, teaching, and entertainment skills required in order to be a nearly adequate trout fishing guide. So, it came to be that I traded in my cinderblock walled classroom for a new classroom where the only walls are the rhododendron and mountain laurel plants which line the banks of North Georgia's trout filled rivers and streams. In 2019, I started working for other local guide services and did so for several years. Then, in 2023, I started Blue Ridge Troutfitters. Over the years, I've been blessed to share some great days on the water with some great clients. I take great pride in working hard for my clients to give them the best experience possible. A great experience means different things for different clients, different seasons, and even day to day conditions. At the end of the day, it is fishing, not catching, and the fish get a vote too. That said, the non-negotiables for a good experience are knowledgeable and safe guides with good character, good attitudes, good preparation, good teaching skills, and good people skills. When you book a trip with Blue Ridge Troutfitters, we strive to provide just that. What I've found is that when we take care of those things, the catching and the good experience tend to take care of themselves. So, if you're looking for a great guided trout/fly fishing experience in Blue Ridge, GA, let Blue Ridge Troutfitters show you a great time! We appreciate your interest and feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need some help deciding what trip is best for you. Tight Lines!
