Jacksonville has a Redfish with your name on it, so let Feather and Fin Guide Co. help you catch it! Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Charlie Martin can tell you all about them.
These waters are known for Redfish, Speckled Trout, Sheepshead, and more. Whether it be light tackle lures or custom-tied flies by Capt. Charlie, his specialty is getting you in front of fish in shallow water. Oftentimes, you’ll see the fish before you cast to them. The average water depth is a foot and a half of water or less. It’s not uncommon to see them swimming with their backs and tails out of the water.
There is nothing quite like the thrill of watching a Redfish flare his gills and lunge after a crab or shrimp imitation bouncing along the mud mere inches in front of his face. Whether it be casting to individual fish on the low tide or schools of 12-20 on the incoming tide, the fish are plentiful in Jacksonville’s marsh waterways.
You’ll be aboard an 18’ Maverick HPX-S with a Yamaha 70 engine hanging off the back. Together with Capt. Charlie, you’ll utilize a push pole for most of the day, pushing along in the shallowest of water to find these fish. Rods, reels, and tackle are all waiting for you, along with lures. Live bait is included when needed, and all fly fishing gear is included. Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat.
Kids are welcome but need to wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Snacks are never a bad idea for the young ones! Don’t leave home without sunblock, a water bottle, and a hat. The sun can be relentless at times and it’s best to cover up as much as possible. Captain Charlie is a catch-and-release guide.
