If you’re ready to discover fishing or cruising the Manasquan River or the Atlantic Ocean off Point Pleasant Beach, book a trip with Fins Up Family Charters. Your guide for the day is Captain Mike, which means you’ll tap into years of knowledge and experience.

Depending on conditions, you might hook into Flounder, Black Seabass, Bluefish, Striped Bass, Bonito, Crab, Tautog, and whatever else takes the bait. The captain specializes in summer Flounder (Fluke) fishing, and they are only a short cruise to the Axel Carlson and Sea Girt Reefs.

Capt. Mike operates a 23’ Walkaround that holds up to 4 passengers for fishing. It has all the essentials. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. Your captain will provide rods and reels, as well as lures if you don’t have your own. There’s no need to buy a fishing license, You can drive right over and come aboard without any hassle!

Children are welcome, so the whole family can come and unplug for the day! Children under 16 must wear life vests while underway, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. Your captain carries up-to-date regulation info so you don’t have to worry about remembering the length allowed for every species.

It’s recommended to bring snacks, sunglasses, sunscreen (non-spray), bottled water, and a hat. If you’d like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

How often would you rather be fishing? Go on and turn that daydream into a reality, with Fins Up Family Charters.

Great captain, Great Boat, Great Time
3 Hour - After Work Soak-Mil1stRes on June 9, 20254 adults
Our trip had some very unfortunate weather, and as a result we had to keep to the bay and river rather than striper fishing in the ocean as planned (which he warned us about far ahead of time), but Captain Mike still did everything he could to make sure we had a great time. He did a great job of finding us some schools of bluefish to catch when it seemed improbable that we'd get anything on our lines, and he was extremely friendly the whole time. Can't recommend booking enough!

It was a great time having you guys out. Sometimes you get lucky... Had we not decided to head back to the river to try for some fluke when we did, we never would have spotted those birds which led to everyone getting in on the action! Hopefully next time the ocean won't be foggy and rough and we can get in on some more action!!

Phenomenal captain!!!
4 Hour – Military/First Resp (PM) on May 24, 20253 adults1 child
Michael was a phenomenal captain. He took my sons out for their first fishing trip. He was on a mission to make sure they enjoyed every moment of the experience!! He went above and beyond. Was very attentive and knowledgeable! He took them to the bay and then the ocean! He’s a great communicator told us of the winds and weather days before the trip. My boys even got a chance to play pirates. We will definitely book again.

Thanks Mirelis... They were a pleasure to have on board. I'm glad they had a great time. I'm also glad the ocean calmed down a bit allowing them to get out of the inlet and see the shoreline like a pirate! Next trip we'll get them out to the wrecks so they can REALLY see how the GPS and fish finder work. They seemed to really like the electronics!

Good time
2 Hour Trip – Quick Soak (AM) on May 24, 20252 adults1 child
A trip with Captain Michael is like hanging out with family. We had a great time. My daughter caught a dogfish/shark. She got to hold it and it just made her day. He clearly knows what he is doing and is very well prepared. We had bad weather and the fish did not like the cold but Captain Michael gave it every effort and gave us extra time. He was very accommodating. Would definitely do it again.

Thank you Marie. I'm glad she hooked up. While it wasn't what we were targeting, unfortunately the weather and water temperature sometime dictate what winds up on the end of your line. But it's always cool to add a new species to the list. She's obviously going to keep on making that list longer, because I can tell she's got that salty angler spirit! I look forward to having you guys back out again, but hopefully with much calmer seas!

Great For First Timers!
4 Hour Trip (AM) on November 17, 20243 adults1 child
For the first timers: Super awesome at helping out our kid tackle whatever was happening. Little man landed the most fish! For the rest: We were against trolling, and wanted to top water stripper. 20 Dogfish later tossing spoons on the bottom, we got a stripper trolling. If you want to catch a fish with a specific method, you gotta understand that that might not happen. We were surrounded by bait and 1 definite stripper, as I watched the dang thing follow my lure to the boat. He did a fantastic job at getting in and out of the inlet.

Thanks Nick! I had a great time with you guys. Definitely a tough day in dogfish city, but at least we did boat the striper and got the rods to bend. That striper following your plug definitely shows that its a good piece of gear and on different day, it could be the hot one! Even on a slow day, you can learn something new that will make the next trip better! I look forward to having you guys out again!

Great trip
3 Hour - After Work Soak-Mil1stRes on July 21, 20252 adults1 child
The goal was to catch fish for my 7-year-old - with the caveat that it was his first saltwater trip. Capt. Mike was very comforting and flexible regarding the trip accommodations. We caught a ton of fish and had a blast. Mike is very knowledgeable and helped answer no less than a billion questions from my inquisitive 7-year-old. 10 out of 10 would recommend.
