King Tide Charters – The Whaler 

The captain (young guy) was super knowledgeable, great sense of humour and explained so much that we didn’t know. We scored big time! After our catch limit we just kept going for sport, and releasing. We had an excellent time and would recommend 5/5!

Andrew was a very good captain, he knew where to find the fish and handled the boat and tackle very professionally. We caught and kept a good sized Coho and Spring with a bonus 3 crabs. It was an excellent half day fishing.

Our trip was very memorable. Our captain was young but very knowledgeable we hooked 4 salmon got 3 to the boat and were only able to keep two. The crab was an added bonus. Would definitely recommend!!

Can't recommend King Tide Charters enough! Captain Shane took us out for a 3 hour evening salmon trip and worked hard to get us on a great Chinook! Shane and Andrew are great guys, informative, friendly, and dialed in on the fishing. We had plenty of crab to take home as well. They operate from a private dock which made the process so smooth. If you are in the Sooke area and looking to get on the water for some fishing these are the guys to go with!

Went out in the cold ( for me ) winter time for some winter springs! That time of year there isn’t a lot of traffic on the ocean so we had the place to ourselves ! There were three of us on the boat including the Captain . We limited out and really enjoyed learning about the different fishing techniques , depths , equipment and signs to look out for . Captain Black made sure to review all the safety information before we got on the boat and gave us time to ask questions if we were unsure. He was super approachable and showed us what we should look for when a bite comes on . How to hold the reel ( dont palm it! ) fight the fish , hold the rod and safely land the fish. Ten out of ten recommend!

My wife and I went out with Captain Shane, and had an amazing time. We each caught a chinook salmon over 20lbs and caught some smaller coho, and an army of crabs to cook up for dinner! Going into fishing, my wife said she never would have booked it, but now she will tell you it was her favorite part of the honeymoon! Thank you so much Shane & Andrew!

I’m very selective with boat captains. I like fishing with Captain Andrew since he is conscientious about the needs of his customer. Andrew is able to adapt to the skill level of his customers Captain Andrew knows secret fishing spots. His knowledge of tides helped to maximize our success on catching fish. I’ve gone with other captains prior to hiring Captain Andrew. These other captains were not professional, lacked experience and just wanted to take my money without providing a positive experience. Andrew will go above and beyond to make sure it is a positive outcome. Not only did I catch large salmon, I also caught an 38 lb. Lingcod based on his knowledge of secret fishing spots. Highly recommend Captain Andrew.

We got out first fish within 10 min of arriving at the spot. Captain Shane was super friendly and patient in teaching my kids how to fish and how different equipment works. All three kids got fish on in the end. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you!

Captain Andrew is very friendly and informative. I was worried my son would get sea sick but he had such a good time that it never hit him. The scenery was amazing. We caught a couple fish but lost a few salmon trying to reel it in. The crab catch (5) was a very special surprise and it was so delicious! Thank you Captain Andrew for the memorable experience. My son is pumped to come back to do some more fishing!
