Species like Amberjack, Mutton Snapper, Yellowtail Snapper, Bonito, Horse-eye Jack, Wahoo, Jack Crevalle, Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Blacktip Shark, Gray Triggerfish, Great Barracuda, Sailfish, and more inhabit these waters if conditions are right. On the day of your trip you're likely to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.

Your trip begins aboard the La Porteña, a 25' Panga that holds up to 3 passengers. It has downriggers, a fighting chair, everything you need for a productive day on the water. Rods, reels, and tackle are covered by the charter, as well as lures. Live bait is included, but you should ask the captain whether you'll be catching it yourself.

Trips are run with the help of a First Mate. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 10–20% tip is customary.

You will need to buy a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.

Don't leave home without sunglasses, sunscreen (non-spray), and a hat. There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
