Hop aboard his 20' Willie drift boat, ideal for up to 4 anglers. She's perfectly suited for these waters, and before you know it, you'll become immersed in the nature that surrounds you. It's not only fish you'll see, but there are also plenty of bears, moose and mighty birds of prey to take in.
Depending on the time of year and your targets, Capt. JJ takes you into the Upper River, Middle River, or Lower River, and even the stunning Canyon – weather permitting. These waters play host to the annual migration of stunning Sockeye and Silver Salmon, Steelhead, and Dolly Varden!
Whether you're a fly fishing fanatic or prefer traditional spinning methods, Capt. JJ has the equipment you need for a successful day on board. At the end of the trip, he's happy to clean and fillet any catch you'd like to take home for dinner.
Feel free to bring along any drinks and snacks you'd like to have and, most importantly, don't forget to pick up a fishing license before heading out.

For us because it’s our first time fishing here my first time fishing and my husband’s new a fly fishing. Matt knew all the spots and helped us so much and we caught tons of fish. I would definitely recommend you to sign up. Spend the extra money and do the private tour.

Half day trip pm Trout on June 25, 2026 • 2 adultsMy wife and I have never fished on a float before, so it was a little intimidating. Our guide (Brandon) did a great job of explaining the process and helping us understand the methods. We caught some nice fish and even had a couple “double” catches. Very beautiful and relaxing fishing trip. I would recommend this to anyone looking to experience Alaska and its beauty.

He was a walking encyclopedia and had a wealth of knowledge about the salmon, trout, rivers and lakes, and all the other wildlife we saw. We had THE BEST time!

Full Day Trip on September 13, 2025 • 2 adultsWhat an experience! This was my husband bucket list trip and the fishing trip was the highlight. Capt JJ was wonderful and answered all my “southern girl” questions via text very promptly. Upon arrival we met Brandon and off we went. We had the most perfect weather and there were lots of boats in the water. Brandon knew what he was doing and we started catching fish quickly! He was very patient and helpful. We caught 4 rainbow trout over 22 inches and many smaller ones. We say seals, eagles, loons and other birds. We are hooked and will be coming again. I recommend JJ and Brandon if you are looking for the best guides!

Half Day Trip am Trout on June 14, 2025 • 3 adultsReally enjoyed our float with Owen on the Kenai. He dialed up an ideal blue sky day. The river was pristine. And the fish were gracious enough to pick up our lures. We caught ~15 rainbows, a few over 20", and one dolly vardon. Would've liked a sockeye, but book the end of June if that's what you have your heart set on. Overall, a great way to experience trout fishing on an Alaskan river with everything planned for you!

Half Day Trip am Trout on July 15, 2024 • 2 adultsBrandon was our guide for the day. Well prepared and very experienced on the Kenai. He was very nice and gave great instruction of how to fish the lures we were using and the proper method of landing fish. My cousin, who had never fished, was up on me 4-0. She caught 2 Dolly's, a Chinook (got away) and a really nice Sockeye. Finally, Brandon put me on a honey hole and I landed two very nice Dolly's at around 20" each, to end the day. Nice fighters. Overall a great experience and perfect weather. I definitely recommend Kenai River Trout Anglers, and Brandon.

Full Day Trip on June 18, 2025 • 3 adults • 1 childMy sons and I had a great time fishing with Owen. He was very knowledgeable and we landed some nice rainbow trout and dollys. Paddling down the Kenai was amazing and a must do. The scenery will take your breath away. Oh yeah, a big shout out to Buck! He’s the best dog and so much fun to have along on the trip. Thanks again!

Half Day Trip am Trout on July 5, 2024 • 2 adultsMy wife and I along with another couple went on a 4 hour float down the upper kenai river for rainbow trout. Our group landed 6 total fish, including a dolly varden and a tomato (sockeye salmon). Our captain Brandon was the definition of a professional. Even after explaining the fishing has been slow, he still made it happen. I recommend anyone who’s eager to catch fish without committing to a full 8 hours- book this trip. Better yet, just book the 8 hours. You wont regret it!

JJ Brown of Kenai River Trout Anglers answered all my questions about the charter, made it easy to setup our trip. Our guide Brandon contacted us the day before to go over some information and get our shoe and wader sizes, this made our shore setup time shorter, and on the river sooner. Brandon shared many stories and information about the area with us. We covered a large stretch of the river working caster and fly rods. He did his best under our wet weather and high water conditions to put us on some fish. It was a fun afternoon, we would recommend chartering with these guys.
Hue was a great fishing guide, showing my wife and I the ropes of bead fishing with a fly rod, which we had never done before. we landed several Rainbow and Dolly Varden, and I even had a shot at a really good sized Dolly! Communication was great, Hue was very knowledgeable, and manuvered the boat through the river like a pro. I would definately recommend this trip to others!
we did an eight hour private tour with Matt, it was totally worth it to do the private tour and to do the eight hour. Such a fun phenomenal trip especially want to highlight Jake who was super kind very informative entertaining and helpful to novices such as myself told us everything we needed to know gave us lots of good opportunities encouragement the trip itself was also phenomenal incredible views and many great opportunities to catch different fishes.
