Always wanted to embark on an unforgettable Floridian freshwater adventure? Fishing in Okeechobee has to go straight to the top of your angling bucket list. The clue’s in the name – after all, this city provides direct access to the prolific Lake Okeechobee. Also known as the “Big O,” or “Florida’s Inland Sea,” you’ll find some first-class fish inhabiting these waters!
Lake Okeechobee is home to Florida’s most beloved freshwater game fish, the Largemouth Bass. This fish provides plenty of action at the end of a line, and can be found all throughout the lake. New and experienced anglers alike will be able to target this species. Visiting with the family? You’ll also be able to target Crappie and a whole host of other Panfish. These are great “starter” species, and are perfect for filling up the cooler with, too!
Thanks to its position right at the top of the lake, you’ll find a variety of charter boats departing from the city of Okeechobee. They offer trips running from four hours, great for newbies and little ones, to full day excursions that Bass enthusiasts will love.
