Fishing in Panama City Beach

There are plenty of reasons why thousands of tourists return to PCB every year, and angling is one of the biggest. The sandy beaches may set this town apart from its larger neighbor across the bay, but Panama City Beach fishing charters are sure to blow you away, too. From the shallow bays to the deep water offshore, there’s something for everyone here.

The St. Andrews Bay system offers up the largest seagrass bed in the Florida Panhandle, meaning there’s plenty for some hungry fish to feast on. Get ready to come into contact with Redfish, Spotted Seatrout, Flounder, and Sheepshead, along with Pompano, Mackerel, and even Tarpon depending on the time of year.

Head out beyond the bays and the Gulf of Mexico offers up endless rewards. The nearshore reefs are overflowing with delicious Snappers, Groupers, Cobia, and Amberjack, while Mackerel can be found in the open waters. Head out to the deep and you could be trolling for big game creatures such as Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna, and Billfish, on what promises to be a trip to remember.

If you’ve just got a couple of hours to spare, you can hit the inshore waters for as little or as long as you want. Nearshore adventures will usually last around the 6-hour mark, while you’ll need 10 hours to make the most of the waters offshore. You’ll even find charters taking you out for a couple of days at a time, so come along and realize your fishing fantasies!

Rules & Regulations

Panama City Beach fishing charters come with licenses included for everyone on board, so that’s one less thing to worry about. Your professional guide will also be up-to-date with all the latest seasons and bag and size limits, so you can sit back and enjoy the fishing.

Panama City Beach Fishing Seasons

January

Even though it’s winter, there are plenty of productive fishing spots to be found. Target Vermilion Snapper and White Snapper on the reefs and get your dinner for the week sorted out.

February

February is the coldest month of the year, but fishing in Panama City Beach can be really hot. Hit the bay for Speckled Trout and Redfish, or go a bit further out for winter Bonito.

March

Spring has finally sprung and it’s time for some Spanish Mackerel and Vermillion Snapper action near the inlet. Bonito can also be found, while the first Cobia of the year are also making their way past.

April

With bait fish moving onto the beaches and into the bays, things are coming together nicely. Amberjacks join Snappers and Cobia nearshore, with Spanish Mackerel adding to the bay action.

May

The State Water Red Snapper season is open on the weekends, so book early to get out on the water. During the week, there's plenty of Vermilion and White Snapper, Triggerfish, Kingfish, and Mahi-Mahi.

June

The King Mackerel bite is hot and strong in Panama City Beach, so you're in for a treat. Don't miss out on the Red Snapper bite, as the season comes alive in style to fulfill your fishing dreams.

July

High season is here and everything is biting. Whatever you want, you've got it, with some monster inshore creatures making their way to the bay, plenty of delicious creatures on the reefs, and big game beasts offshore.

August

School's out and there's no better place to come. Offshore fishing entices pros, while reef fishing will also yield great rewards. If you're looking to entertain the little ones, then the calm inshore waters also offer up plenty!

September

There's no end in sight to the fishing season, as the warm weather and range of fish entices anglers of all sorts to PCB. Red Snapper can be caught on weekends, so don’t miss your final chance to get a few for the grill.

October

It’s hard to resist the last bite of Red Snapper on weekends, but there's much more to fishing. Make the most of the last of the offshore season to land Mahi and Grouper, while Flounder is the flavor of the month inshore.

November

Attention shifts inshore come November, but that doesn't mean there's a shortage of action. Look for Redfish on a late fall day, but don’t forget about Sheepshead, Flounder, and Pompano that are calling your name.

December

Who needs turkey when you can have fresh grilled fish for Christmas dinner? This time of year is great to take your kids out on the water, as you fish the bay, go bottom fishing for Grouper, or catch Redfish around the jetties.
