Slow Time but a great time

June can be a slow season in NSB for fishing. TJ hustled the whole time to make sure my son had an opportunity to put fish in the cooler and to land a big one. We ended up with a trophy Black drum, and a PR Redfish for my son.

We had a great experience with Captain Jon at new Smyrna Beach. We asked for keeper fish and one or two big catches and Captain John did not disappoint. We hooked up with a bunch of nice sized whitting, targeted flounder and black drum, along with a variety of other species. I’d recommend him and will be booking another trip soon. We did the 2-hour. Timing was bad because it was right in between tides. Big Al put us in a spot where we caught black drum and ladyfish. Once the action died down we moved to another spot where we had various action, but then right at the end of our time we had a huge hit that turned out to be a P.B. 40" Redfish.

TJ tried his best to get us on fish. Started slow, but we got a few nice black drum (30” range), a keeper sheepshead and a few smaller fish that we released.
