Tarpon Fishing in Key West FL
Tarpon fishing is excellent in Key West throughout most of the year. There are always smaller resident Tarpon in the area, but March through June will be the best months, with the migratory peak April through May. Thousands of anglers from all over the world congregate here each year to experience this massive Tarpon run.
The average fish you can catch during these months will be from 80 to 150lbs. Look for them in flats around channels and bridges. Schools of smaller Tarpon rush the flats at dawn, eating everything in sight. Deeper water Tarpon are a bit harder - longer and precise casts are necessary. If you don't hook some, keep in mind that deep water fish are spawning and not necessarily feeding.
