Going after these giants of the deep is as exciting as it gets and reeling them in will require a lot of skill and strength. Which is why, of course, so many anglers love Sturgeon fishing.
These magnificent, ancient fish can grow to be up to 7 feet long and weigh well over 300 pounds. Imagine the sight of something that colossal dragging your line and mercilessly fighting you every step of the way. Sturgeon always stick to the bottom in search of food, so to hook your next record, you need your bait to be on the bottom as well. Anchovies and mud shrimp will do the trick.
You can fish for White Sturgeon in the Bay Area year round, as long as you know where they gather at the time of your trip. Bear in mind that Sturgeon fishing in specific sections of the Bay is off limits at certain times. If you’re not certain where to cast your line, book a trip with an experienced charter captain.
