We will be fishing the Louisiana Gulf Coast. In the mornings, you get to see our marshes, which are estuaries for all kinds of life. We usually travel down the Mississippi River and back up in the afternoon. We catch bait in the morning using cast nets and Sabikis. We then venture out to our oil rigs and will use different fishing techniques for different times of the year. We mainly target Yellowfin Tuna but can target other species too.

Wahoo fishing in Louisiana, United States is fast, exciting, and rewarding. Wahoo are lightning‑quick pelagic fish with sharp teeth and powerful runs. Louisiana’s bluewater attracts them with rich bait schools around platforms and along the Gulf’s offshore currents.

Captains often troll fast with deep‑diving plugs, jet heads, and rigged ballyhoo. They watch for clean water, rips, and temperature breaks where bait stacks up. Wire leaders help prevent bite‑offs, and heavy tackle keeps pressure on during long, fast runs.

Most Wahoo charters are full‑day offshore trips with an early start. Boats run well past the nearshore line to reach bluewater and structure. This trip suits anglers who enjoy speed, teamwork, and steady action. Bring sun protection, a hat, polarized sunglasses, and any motion‑sickness meds. Your crew will explain the plan, handle the gear, and help with fish care.

Louisiana’s best Wahoo grounds spread off Venice, Grand Isle, Empire, and Port Fourchon. Productive waters include the continental shelf edge, the Mississippi Canyon, and deep areas near major oil platforms and floaters. Winter through spring often sees strong action when water is clear and bait is plentiful, but fish can show anytime conditions line up.

Before you go, check current Louisiana and federal rules for Wahoo. Confirm if you need a fishing license or a charter passenger license. Ask your captain about open seasons, permitted harvest, and any offshore rules that may differ from state waters.

    Great day on Calcutta Gold

Captain Eric knows what he's doing! Gentleman's limit on tuna, landed a swordfish and a fight with a Wahoo but the fish won! 3 species day offshore . . . Great boat too. Seating for passengers . . . This is a must have. Thank you Captains Eric and Josh - we are coming back for sure!

    Amazing morning on the water

Captain Mitch is very knowledgeable, and definitely a down to earth kind of guy. He also ofcourse, knows how to find the fish. We had a blast, not only with the fishing but the whole experience was great. We caught some very nice redfish and a few black drum. Tight lines, good vibes, we would definitely go with him again. Thank you Mitch for the great trip.

Our captain Mitch had us on fish as soon as we arrived at our spot! Black drum, Red drum even caught a flounder! Mitch was very knowledgeable having grown up in the area and the boat was top notch! Would highly recommend him and Reel Cajun fishing! Tip: uber will get u there but we had to take a taxi back.

    Its Called Fish’n, Not Catch’n

It was a difficult day on the water. The fish we did catch were barely outside of the size limit. Can’t blame the Captain for that. It was still a good day on the water.
