As we close out April here on Florida’s Space Coast, the snook bite is really starting to turn on—and May is shaping up to be even better. These fish are feeding aggressively around mangroves, docks, and deeper troughs, with both live bait and artificials producing solid results. We’ve had some great action lately, and it’s only going to improve as water temps continue to rise. We’ve also been hooking into a few big redfish in the mix, especially around the flats and deeper channels. These bruisers are always a welcome bonus and never fail to put anglers to the test. And of course, we’re keeping a close eye out for the first big pushes of tarpon. A few early arrivals are trickling in, and the real show is right around the corner. Nearshore Action Heating Up! The nearshore bite for snook and redfish has been absolutely stellar when the weather has played nice. Calm conditions have provided anglers with nonstop action, as these species are feeding aggressively along the beaches and inlets. This is prime time to target them with live bait or artificials, as they’re on the hunt for an easy meal before winter fully sets in. Big Black Drum Are on the Way! With the arrival of cold fronts, we’re entering one of the most exciting times of year on Florida’s Space Coast. The mullet run is a yearly bait migration us fisherman highly look forward to!! Mullet migrate down the florida coast & are followed by many predators! Nearshore and inshore have been great for tarpon ,redfish & snook. As we inch closer towards October we will see a big push of large redfish flooding our inercoastal & nearshore waters. Redfish tend to spawn this time of year presenting grear opportunities at personal record sized fish. It is not uncommon to land redfish 50” and tarpon exceeding 100lbs this time of year. May is a phenomenal month to target pre spawning snook as they migrate to their designated spawning grounds . We are seeing snook in numbers & they are fired up ! Live baits & top water lures have been key. As we further into May & June the snook fishing should continue to progress. Tarpon have been showing up in canals & around docks. They are next to arrive in greater numbers. Spring is so exhilarating! Now is the time to hunt down that trophy Snook or Tarpon that is highly sought after along Floridas Coast’s. Tarpon season is upon us! As summer heat begins to increase so do the numbers of tarpon! Live finger mullet, threadfins & pogies have been excellent baits , we are finding best opportunities in the early morning’s & late afternoons with the exception of small feeding frenzy’s happening at specific mid day points. Canals , mangrove shorelines and deeper sandy flats have been key areas of focus. The snook bite has also remained steady as they continue moving towards their yearly spawning grounds.
