In Blue Ridge, GA for a short vacation.  Booked a 4-hour trip on Lake Blue Ridge with Captain Hunter Hoek.  This was the first time I booked a captain for lake fishing.  I’m from Florida and book saltwater trips from South Carolina to the Keys several times a year so I get to meet a lot of captains other than a regular I have in the Keys.

I’m a disabled USMC vet and my legs aren’t what they used to be.  I explained this to Captain Hoek and he assured me he would get me on and off the boat.  They lower the level of the lake in the winter so you can’t use the dock.  Captain Hoek got me on the boat with no problem.  He was very patient and did whatever it took to help me.

Now for the fishing.  Captain Hoek got us on the fish right away.  He was very informative and patient with instructing me how to reel these spotted bass in.  Not my usual yank the fish in by the face technique.  Let’s just day we got our limit.  Sometimes we had 3 fish on at once.  The boat next to us, at times, ended up with 5 fish total with 2 fishermen on the boat.

The whole trip was one of, if not THE BEST fishing trip I have ever been on.  Captain Hoek’s personality, patience and great humor just added to making this a trip to remember.  We could use captains like him in Florida.
I rarely use the word “awesome”.  Something needs to be actually awesome for me to use that word, but Captain Hoek and the fishing trip were AWESOME.

We took an early May morning charter with Capt Hoek. He was professional, put us on fish all morning, and was kind enough to clean them for us to save us some trouble. We would highly recommend him and hope to come back to fish with him again.

Our trip with cap’n Hoek was a great time. Cap was chill and made sure we always had a line in the water and was on point to help us land every fish we hooked and always moving to better spots if one was a dud. Managed to catch a big Ole striped bass a hubrid striper, a few spotted bass and and some supprisingly large walleye.

Definitely reccomended and cap is on our short list for future trips!

Can’t recommend Capt Hoek enough. We wanted to catch some walleye and perch and Capt Hoek put us on some within 10 mins, but they weren’t active today. We tried two different spots with no luck, so Capt Hoek changed it up and we started to target bass. We caught about a dozen spotted bass including a couple massive ones.

Overall great day and Capt Hoek kept things going well enough my 10 year made it the full 6 hrs in frigid conditions. Would recommend this trip to anyone wanting a great guide and fun time. We’ll be back soon.

My husband, son and son’s friend went out with Hunter for an all day fishing trip, including lunch on the shore. They had a blast! Caught large Stripe Bass and Spotted Bass. Hunter is extremely knowledgeable and personable. Couldn’t ask for a better experience.
