Heading out on the water with us means adventure, sunshine, and unforgettable memories—powered by a captain who works hard long before you ever step on the boat. From checking weather and prepping gear at sunrise to cutting bait, cleaning your fish, and keeping everyone safe, your captain puts a whole lot of heart into every charter. What many people don’t know is that the charter fee mostly covers the boat—fuel, maintenance, tackle, licensing, and all the behind-the-scenes costs of running a safe and fun ocean adventure. Tips, however, go directly to the captain as a “You nailed it!” appreciation for their time, skill, and Aloha. Just like you’d tip a great server for an amazing meal, tipping your captain (usually 15–20%) is the best way to say “Mahalo for making our day awesome!” Whether they helped you hook fish, answered every question with a smile, or filleted your catch to perfection, your tip tells them their hard work made a difference. Captains do what they do because they love the ocean—but your kindness helps keep that passion alive. So if you had a great time on the water, don’t forget to sprinkle a little Aloha their way. Deep-sea fishing in Hawai‘i is an amazing experience, but it’s also unpredictable. No charter can guarantee catches, as fish activity depends on season, currents, water temps, and signs like birds or bait in the area. Even with an experienced captain putting in the work, some days the ocean simply goes quiet.

Matt chartered multiple zones, but with no aku birds or active bait schools, the bite was slow across the area that day. While we can’t control the fishing conditions, we always strive to provide a safe, professional, and enjoyable charter.

We appreciate your support of our small local business and hope to welcome you back when the fish are running stronger.

My 9 and 6 year old love fishing and I am not a fisherman. Captain Matt was great and accommodated the family. We caught a ton of baitfish and some bigger ones. Kids loved it and said it was one of best activities of the trip. Captain Matt made it easy. When we come back we will call captain Matt.

Great trip with Matt and Jarvis fishing both artificials and live bait. Hookup with Mahi and Kawakawa. Saw whales breaching and playing and a tiger shark checking out the boat. Lots to see and do and they worked hard the entire time, with 3-4 rods in the water at all times. Would definitely go again.

Captain Matt is awesome. It’s a small boat so you can have a private charter for up to 6 people at a very reasonable cost. Capt Matt worked extremely hard. We didn’t have any luck for a few hours and he was determined and gave us extra time until we caught some fish. When I come back I am definitely going with Capt Matt again. Plus he tailors the tour to meet your needs. We went over 10 miles out looking for big fish.
