4 Hour Afternoon Trip 2pm • 3 adultsWe had an absolutely amazing day out on the water with Captain Brian of Ana Banana fishing charters. The boat itself and equipment was in excellent condition. The captain was incredibly kind and helpful with me and my teenage boys. We caught so many fish we almost hit our allowable quota. Probably one of the best charters we’ve ever taken down here. Blueridge runners, yellowtail, and mackerel galore. I can’t recommend Captain Brian enough!! You can be sure that the next time we’re in marathon will be rebooking this charter again.

5 Hour trip • 3 adultsExtremely knowledgeable and friendly. Excellent charter group for people of all ages. I intend to bring my 9 year old daughter on the next trips I am planning with Ana Banana. No need to find any other charter company - this is the one you should go with. We did two charters with them over the weekend. Lots of fish caught, good music, good times!!

3/4 Day Trip • 4 adults • 2 childrenMy wife, two boys and I took a 3/4 day charter with them this morning and had an outstanding time. While the fishing itself was a bit slow, the captain and first mate did everything they could and went out of their way to do their absolute best for my boys. In the end, everyone has a great time and before we'd left the parking lot, they were asking to sign up with them again while we're still in town for the week. Thanks so much for a truly outstanding morning!

3 Hour Morning • 4 adults • 2 childrenOur family recently took a fishing charter in Marathon, Florida with Captain Brian, and it was truly an incredible experience from start to finish. We primarily booked the trip for our sons, and Brian did an amazing job planning a day that was absolutely perfect for our family. He was incredibly patient, helpful, and engaging with the boys, making sure they were involved in every part of the experience. From baiting hooks to explaining what we were fishing for, Brian made the trip both exciting and educational. His knowledge of the area and the different fish species was impressive, and he took the time to show the boys the details of each fish we caught and explain what made them unique. We caught a lot of fish and had an absolute blast! One of the best parts was how easy the whole experience was. We simply showed up, stepped onto the boat, and everything was taken care of equipment, bait, and even the planning of where to fish. It allowed us to relax, enjoy the day, and focus on making great memories together as a family. Captain Brian’s expertise and passion for what he does really made the trip special. We had such a wonderful time, and I would highly recommend booking a charter with him to anyone visiting Marathon. We will definitely be scheduling another trip with Brian the next time we’re in town. Thanks again for an unforgettable day on the water! 3 Hour Morning • 4 adults • 2 childrenWe took a 3 hour morning trip with our two kids (8 & 11) and they had the best time! Capt. Brian worked his tail off for us. He took us to 4 different places and wouldn't quit until everyone caught multiple fish (even the kids stopped counting)! We caught grouper, mutton, bluefish, mangroves, and grunts. It was an incredible amount of variety and quantity given the limited tome. Capt. Brian was going like crazy with all four of us having rods in the water at the same time, catching fish, and having to replace bait all the time as we missed hits. My husband and I both grew up fishing, but not this kind, and Capt. Brian had a great attitude about our learning curve. He was just the right amount of learning without making it feel like a lesson and he never tried to one-up or get conceited like a lot of professional fishing guides can. The boat was clean and well kept and he had all the equipment ready and it was working beautifully. We kept a bunch and took them down to the Castaway restaurant about a block away from the dock and they cooked them up for us and it was delicious! Highly recommend Capt. Brian and Ana Banana!

The rain finally eases off in October, and the temperature drops back to a sane 85. The Tuna are at their height this time of year, with Yellowfin and Blackfin biting well offshore, and the Tarpon and Snook are still filling up the shallows.

Captain Joel's Fishin' Holes

Over the years I've written about fishing spots, fishing techniques, and how to target certain species. I've rarely written about specific Fishing products. Years ago, I wrote about Power Pole and how it was going to revolutionize the fishing industry. I bought my first Power Pole out of the inventors garage when he still had a patent pending on them. Everybody who fished inshore had to have a power pole, which, if you didn't know is a hydraulic arm on the stern of your boat that anchors you in shallow water electronically with the push of a button. Everybody wanted to buy one once they figured out that you could drift into a school of fish quietly push a button and stop your boat rather than anchoring traditionally which was loud physical and also not enviromentally friendly with traditional anchors destroying reefs and seagrass. Then everybody had to have two on their boat once they realized one would anchor you and the other would position your boat. Years before that, I wrote about a product called Bobs Machine Shop Jack Plate. Before Bobs Machine Shop jack plate all you could do was tilt your engine up and down with the push of a tilt and trim button now with Bobs Machine Shop jack plate you can jack your engine straight up and down allowing you to plane through much shallower water to get to your fishing spot. Up till now I think those two revolutionary fishing products are the only products that I've ever written about. Today I want to tell you about a new product that I think will change offshore/nearshore fishing forever. It's called the Bravo ACR LLC. Invented and patented by a local Marathon fisherman named Erick Bravo. ACR stands for Automatic Clip Return. Most offshore anglers use outriggers while trolling , kite/ballon fishing, drift fishing etc. The idea of having outriggers is keeping multiple baits separated and also keeping your baits out of your prop wash and being able to make tight turns and not tangling your baits on one another by deploying long arms port and starboard called outriggers. Allegedly the first modern outriggers were invented in Marathon Florida Keys by whom I'm not sure, however, here we are many years later, and the modern outrigger has just been reivented with ACR automatic clip return. As you know, fishing and especially offshore fishing is a game of inches and seconds. Inches and seconds matter a lot when presenting a Bait to a hungry game fish. Before ACR a captain in a Sportfisher for example would have to yell down to his First Mate, "hey Larry take the middle starboard outrigger and pull it down change your bait your ballyhoo is trashed!" Hey Larry put up your first port outrigger it's running too low." Hey Larry you have weeds on your port long bait! All day yelling at poor Larry, who has to bring multiple outriggers clips up and down all day by hand. With ACR the captain can sit in his captains chair, looking down at the cockpit and can control his entire set of outriggers with the push of a button on a little controller attached to a lanyard around his neck. No more yelling down to his First Mate to make outrigger adjustments. This not only allows the captain to have complete control of his outrigger system, but it allows the first mate to be doing other things such as rigging baits, cleaning the boat, catering to the clients etc, but most of all it saves inches and seconds. Not to mention people who fish alone or fish with novice anglers. Before ACR these captains with no First mates or experienced anglers would have to leave the wheel with the boat underway to adjust the outriggers while trolling which is not only dangerous but time consuming. This invention is the coolest invention since the electronic windless anchor or auto pilot steering. I know there will be a day in the near future when you will step on to a nice offshore boat and already know the release clips on his outrigger system is equipped with an automatic clip return. Any offshore boat that has outriggers operated manually instead of electronically will be considered prehistoric.. All of our offshore Ana Banana Boats are equips with the new Bravo ACR LLC outrigger system. On another note the fishing is great right now and will be getting better and better as we enter into springtime.
