Excellent trip. We highly recommend Captain John! He was great to talk to, very kind to my kids (aged 6-11), and worked hard to (successfully!) put us on some bluefish on a tricky day after a thunderstorm the night before. When it got hot around midday, we were happy to have the option to spend time in the air conditioned cabin in the boat.

And to anyone who goes out with Captain John, definitely add on the crabcake lunch! These were the best crabcakes we could remember eating in years, fried up on the boat.

We had a great time on our charter boat experience. Captain John and his first mate were very friendly and had no problems answering questions and wanted to give us a great day which they did! Would definitely recommend them to our friends and would definitely use them in the future. We did the morning trip and got to see a beautiful sunrise.

The fishing trip was excellent. I highly recommended it. The boat and all of the fishing equipment was first class. Captain John and the first mat Ron were extremely professional and very witty. My Girlfriend Maggie won the award for best fisherman and Captain John gave her a very nice necklace. We will be back soon hopefully in August and in October for another fishing trip. We caught our limit of 17 large blue fish. Thank You Captain John and First Mate Ron

Let me start by providing some perspective.  I have chartered fishing boats from Maine to the Gulf Coast. It’s not the catch that’s important, it’s the experience. We had family from Texas come to Maryland to have their first saltwater/bay fishing trip. Our party was a mixture of adults and children. Captain John and Phil his mate without a doubt provided a first class vessel, hospitality, knowledge and service.  They were patient with the two children and kept the adults entertained.  I don’t think I have enjoyed myself more on any charter as much as I did on Patent Pending in 35 years of fishing charters.  We will definitely be back and look forward to going with them again.  BTW we limited out on Bluefish before 10:00.  Thank you again Captain John and Phil for an experience we will never forget!!!

We’ve been out on the Patent Pending a number of times, and Captain John never disappoints. It’s a really great boat, super comfortable and clean, really well-equipped.  Captain John is an incredibly gracious host, and he works exceptionally hard to make sure everyone has a nice time.  Ronnie is a great first mate who keeps everything well-oiled and running smoothly.  On this particular trip, the wind was blowing and the water was choppy and the fish just weren’t biting.  Captain John still did everything imaginable to find the fish…he burned a lot of fuel and and was constantly on the radio trying to see if and where they were biting.  Thanks to all this effort we ultimately managed to put six small blues in the box, against some odds, but honestly it was just a wonderful day out on the water.  We’ll be back in October for trophy season for sure!
