Our fishing experience with Captain Rafa exceeded all our expectations. Even though the fish were being stubborn, Captain Rafa and stuck with it and made sure we got a catch. Bonus National Geographic moments included watching iguanas fall out of trees and a freeloading pair of pelicans whose antics won occasional bait treats from the Captain.

Booked a fishing charter and thats exactly what we did…we fished. Oh and we caught fish too. Capt. had us on fish all day but they were very finicky on what they wanted. Missed several due to being overanxious and had several spit the hooks after some great aerial shows. Boated one fish but again we came to fish and catching was a bonus.

Always a great day to be out on the water fishing. We returned from a cruise and Captain Rafael was accommodating to get us on the water earlier than scheduled. While this day was about ‘fishing’ and not ‘catching’ it was a great time of interaction and education. The captain worked to put us on the fish but today was not that day (evidenced by other boats not catching either). Regardless it was a great to spend time on the water learning, experiencing the back waters of San Juan.

My 2 daughters and I spent the last 3 days catching tarpon with Captain Rafael Vega. We landed 20 tarpon and a snook. Many many more got hooked but were not brought in. Rafael’s knowledge and ability are second to none. He went above and beyond consistently to make sure we were in fish.  Simply put he’s the BEST. We had a great trip!  We can’t wait to fish with him again!  I don’t hesitate to give him the highest possible review.

This was a surprise for my spouse and one he will never forget. Captain Vega created an experience for my family and friends that has highlighted our day and trip. I see why he is booked solid!!! This was our first experience with Tarpon (not to mention by no means am I a fisher) and he will do everything he can to set you up for success.

His expertise is obvious and I think people who were complaining about not giving instructions were expecting full on fishing lessons 101. To be out gently, I have never caught a fish and by the end of the day, this inland dwelling mother and nurse was holding a whole fish! He will instruct when the time comes and if you do have questions , ASK! He was kind and let us quietly play some music and accommodating to us bringing beverages as well.
