Our captain, Corbin, was knowledgeable and personable. He taught us so much and was very patient with our questions. He knew the river and the fishing system inside and out. We had a wonderful time! Thank you Corbin!

Being a novice fly fisherman did not deter Captain Joe from teaching me the “arts of fly fishing “. Caught my limit of trout when I finally got the hang of it. Wish I had an ounce of his patience!

Colby was a very pleasant, knowledgeable and patient guide. He has grown up in that area and has years of experience on the Toccoa river.  The river itself was beautiful even though there were no leaves on the trees (must be fantastic in fall! ) My partner caught six trout and was quite happy with his experience fishing freshwater trout . We are saltwater fisherman and there is definitely a difference in the bite and the feel of catching trout( much more subtle )  I enjoyed myself too even though I didn’t catch any fish. The trip was divided into two parts because of the “ generation” which is when water is released from the dam ... this causes the river to rise rapidly and move faster . The first part of the trip we met at 630 am and got off the water about 11am and that’s when the bite was decent. In the afternoon, after the “ generation” the river was still quite high and I felt that it definitely slowed down the bite . We fished again from 2p-6p . Apparently there is a schedule of when these dam releases are ... If I did it again I would try to schedule on a day when there are no dam releases . I believe the trip would not be broken in that scenario and would be a full continuous 8 hours. Either way , it was nice to break up the trip to go and get a decent lunch and rest .

Had a good time even though the bite was slow. You can’t catch what isn’t there. We came in the worst time of the season and still caught more fish than everyone around us.
