We had such an amazing day full of sun, calm waters and fishing, although we didn’t take any pictures of our catch I made sure to post a picture of it prepared and cooked at the local restaurant. We decided to go snorkeling as well and the crew member took us for an underwater tour of the local reef which made for a perfect ending of our trip before we headed back home. Did I mention that Capt Alfonso makes the best on board guacamole ever and even had fresh fruit and my beloved Tajin seasoning to go on the fresh mangos, it’s like he read my mind!! Lol This Cajun Gringa loves her seasoning..
One last comment before I go, is that even after the trip he made sure that we were safely walked back to the taxi which meant a lot to us. He went out of his way to do so. When you go fishing with this crew they make you feel like family and make sure you’re safe as well.

Captain Alfonso and his mate were amazing!  Easy going & fun to talk with.  We were fully aware it wasnt the best time to fish in PDC but being an avid fisherman I wasnt letting the opportunity pass.  Alfonso worked his ass off to make sure we got onto some fish.  We all got a chance to reel some in, and he hooked us up with the restaurant to have it cooked that evening.  He had beer, water, fresh mangos and even made is fresh salsa right on the boat. I cant say enough about these 2 true fishermen.

We just got home and agree that our fishing trip with Alfonso was the highlight of our week in Playa del Carmen. The day started off rocky because we messed up the schedule. But Alfonso was extremely kind and we were still able to go.
What made the trip OUTSTANDING was how much Alfonso CARED about us bringing in fish. We had a slow start (not for lack of effort!) going after some of the bigger fish but ended the day with 6 triggerfish, which were extremely fun to catch!
Alfonso and his shipmate were kind, helpful, and kept bait on our lines. They also kept the boat tidy and had a cooler of beverages and snacks.
When we came in for the day, Alfonso cleaned our fish and arranged for the restaurant next door to cook them for our lunch the next day. We HIGHLY recommend doing that! It was reasonably priced and delicious!!! And such a fun and relaxing way to top off the whole experience!!! We even got to have a beer and lemonade toast with Alfonso when he came in from his trip the next day.
Don’t hesitate to book with Alfonso. He’s a wonderful guide who truly cares about your experience. And, it’s a beautiful and fun way to take in a piece of Playa del Carmen!
