Fishing with Captain Alfonso and First Mate Mariano was a blast. These guys are hard working. We were having a slow morning and the fish were not cooperating. Mariano was busy monitoring the lines and trying new baits. Captain Alfonso kept trying new speeds and locations, trying to figure out what the fish wanted. After some time of not catching our target fish he moved us into shallower water to try for other species. We hooked into a Barracuda, and then another! There were three of us on the boat and I could tell that he wanted to get all three of us one. About 20 minutes later we caught a third. After that we went back to the deeper water and tried for Mahi again. As our time was coming to an end, the baits kept getting hit by small fish. I could tell that Captain really wanted to catch a mahi with us. He even stayed out after our time was up!  We feel privileged to have had the opportunity to fish with such pros.

When we got back to shore, Captain and a local man filleted our catch. One of the fish was immediately brought into a local restaurant and cooked in three different preparations. It was some of the best fish I’ve ever had, and definitely the freshest. One of the others was filleted and packaged for me to bring home. The third was cooked for friends and families at the restaurant.

Overall, we could have not asked for a better trip. We highly recommend Captain Alfonso!!

We had a great time on Alfonso’s boat charter! Good communication prior, easy to find location, and clean boat! We did the 6 hour trip and within 30 mins of fishing starting hooking Mahi-Mahi. A full day of fishing, catching something every 30 mins. After 5 hours of fishing we went snorkeling and they put us on a school of fish to feed by hand, what an experience! After getting back the kitchen cooked the fish for us and was the best fish we have had the entire stay in Playa Del Carmen! Can’t recommend enough 5 star trip!

We did a six hour trip with Alfonso and Mariano and had an absolutely incredible day. We caught 11 mahi mahi and the highlight of the day, a 60 pound sail fish. Our mahi mahi haul included a 44 inch bull and a large female as well. Just an excellent day on the water.

Alfonso and Mariano are professional and personable. We truly enjoyed our time on the Calypso III. Eating our fresh catch at the restaurant back on shore was also an awesome experience. Everything was so tasty…fresh mahi mahi four ways—perfecto!

My family and I had a great with Captain Alfonso and deckhand Paulo. His communication leading up to our trip with timely and clear, he was ready to go at the meeting spot and was very friendly and professional. He pointed out a sailfish, some flying fish and a giant sea turtle along the way, had apples, mangos, water, Gatorades, sodas and even a few beers on board along with some great sandwiches.

He put us on the mahi-mahi, which was our dream catch and we snagged a barracuda too. We even even both Alfonso and Paulo to dine with us at the restaurant near where he picks up as they grilled our mahi-mahi.

Great man, great captain, would 100% fish with him again. Muchos gracias, Captain Alfonso!

Our time in Playa Del Carmen Mexico overall was a little disappointing until we went on our fishing trip with Alfonso and Mariano! This was the best experience we could have hoped for! I am 7 months pregnant and they made me feel super comfortable and accommodated me where I needed it. They made the best of some rough waters, which turned out good because we caught 6 Mahi Mahi and a Sailfish! They took us to the restaurant Así where the restaurant staff prepared the Mahi Mahi 4 different ways and we enjoyed the best meal we’d had since arriving in Playa Del Carmen! We could not have asked for a better experience! Thank you Alfonso and Mariano!
