My family and I had a great trip, I did schedule a 8 hour trip in hopes of fishing offshore but unfortunately we cannot control the wind, we did catch fish, Captain and first mate worked very hard to make sure they didn’t miss an opportunity to hook up with a fish.  Thanks for the day!

Our captain and his first mate gave us a great half day experience on the water. We hooked 3 needle fish , brought all 3 to boat side but landed only one, which the captain filleted on board and prepared the freshest possible sashimi and pineapples complete with soy sauce, wasabi, and seasoning. Delicious! We got a small red snapper, a sea bass, and a swim and finished the morning with a lunch made with our catch and assorted sides. Well worth the time and money, but have a little extra cash for the lunch preparation and for parking.

Captain Cabo and his first mate, Gael, couldn’t have been nicer. They even dealt with me butchering their language all day — I know Cabo can speak English quite well, but he knew I wanted to practice and he, Gael, and I spoke only Spanish the entire time. It was great!

As for the fishing, the wind was blowing pretty hard all day, and the bite was tough, but they didn’t stop working until they got me on some fish. We trolled for about 5 hours without seeing anything, not even a small, curious dorado. We changed tactics and went near shore, then, at the last minute, we hit a rooster fish right at the end of the day, and then Captain Pablo put in extra work and time to take us to a few spots with red snapper so I could catch some and take them to a nearby restaurant to cook for dinner. We also hit on a bonito, which Captain (now Chef) Cabo cut up into a filet to cook later and then used the other half for sashimi to enjoy fresh on the boat. He brought everything to not only make sashimi but also to make a sort of ceviche with soy sauce, onions, limes, and garlic. It was fantastic!

Overall, no guide can make the fish bite, but even on a tough bite, Captain Cabo worked hard and delivered. He was a fishing guide, a chef, a great person, and even a mechanic at one point (helping me with a potential issue with my rental car haha). Thank you!

Captain Mendez and his crew was amazing, First time in Costa Rica and wasn’t sure what to expect but him and his crew surpassed expectations by far and caught 3 sailfish! Such a amazing experience! Definitely will come back from Texas again and book him again! Pura Vida🤙

The captain is very experienced and the tour is well organized.  We caught one tuna, four snappers, several small fishes.  Best tuna sashimi we ever had!  Also saw dolphins and a turtle, and pelicans and seagulls fight for the fish bones.  Overall a unique and fun experience.
