We had a bad start with Captain Agoney Gonzalez today . The fishes we tried to catch for live bait were quite reluctant to eat our bait so we went for main fishing with shortage of bait. Otherwise the sea was quite stormy waves were about 2 metres. Captain Agoney did his best to find a proper position of the boat and to make fishing comfortable. All the time he was between us. Helping with tackles, advising how to do the things right and as a result we managed to catch some decent size fishes. I really appreciated his efforts and strongly recommend his service.

This past week i went on two 5 hour shared charter with Resacca fishing charter. The first day Agoney told us there wasn’t much live bait to be caught so he suggested to go trolling instead. It was a good call! We caught 2 wahoo’s and i’ve caught my first Mahi mahi! Not big but beautiful non the less!

The second day was quite windy with little chance of catching live bait, so said captain Agoney. Trolling wasn’t a option due to the strong wind en swell. Stopped at Lobos but no live bait (boga) to be caught. Tried a number of spots but no luck. All other charter boats and even professional fishermen went back to port. Agoney did not want to give up and tried the last spot. Even told us we were going back to the harbour when we found the boga! In about an hour we caught enough fish to go for the bigger ones. We made way in direction to Lanzarote. There were pretty big waves but it was okay to fish. Almost immediatly we hooked a barracuda which we’ve lost. En soon after that a yellowfin tuna, approx. 8 kg. Every 10 minutes we had a bite. Caught 4 yellowfin tuna’s between 6.5 and 9 kg, 3 barracuda’s and an atlantic bonito. I caught a tuna (8.5kg) and the biggest barracuda. Another awesome day! I will definitly go out with Agoney when i’m back on the island!

So starte ich mal von Anfang an:

Leider war das kleine Boot defekt und wir sind mit dem großen raus gefahren. Was aber kein Problem war

Die Kommunikation mit agoney ist ist sehr einfach, er antwortet recht schnell und geht auch auf wünsche ein, sagt allerdings auch wenn er etwas für nicht sinnvoll empfindet. Was ich persönlich sehr gut finde.

Wir wurden morgens im Hotel abgeholt und sind direkt in den Hafen gefahren ab aufs Boot und los geht’s.

Während agoney gefahren ist hat uns sein Deckhelfer eine sehr gute Einweisung auf das tackle gegeben und dann ging’s auch schon mit dem trolling los.

Nach ca 2.5 Stunden kam der erste Biss
Dann wurde es etwas hecktisch a Deck was wir nicht so gewohnt waren du Ruten mussten schnell rein geholt werden damit der Fisch gedrillt werden kann. Beim einholen sind wir etwas verwirrt gewesen genau wegen der Hektik aber das passiert nun mal wenn man es nicht gewohnt ist. 

Nach einem tollen 13 Minuten Drill kam dann mein erster wahoo a die Oberfläche was ein toller Fisch.

Zwei Stunden später biss dann auch noch ein schöner bonito.

Leider mussten wir den Trip nach ca 6 Stunden wegen Seekrankheit meiner Freundin abbrechen.

Alles in allem kann ich aber sagen das sich der trolling Trip für begeisterte sehr lohnt und agoney sein Möglichstes tut damit man ein tolles Erlebnis hat.

We- parents with two Kids, 7 & 9 years old- had a good time with Captain Agoney on a five hour trip around Los Lobos. Boat was perfectly clean and more than Big enough for eight passengers, all rods and bait were well prepared. Captain was very patient with all his guests, Even when we scewed up at some times. When we caught a Bonito, I almost poked out the Captains eye- he stayed very calm even then- thanks for your patience, Sir! Our Kids were invited to sit on the Captains chair for a while, they and all of us has a Great time. We‘ll come back next year

My 9 year old son caught a big Bonito, i could see he was scarred he couldn’t do it, drop the rod or fall out the boat - i was about to take over from him, but the captain jumped in before me, put a rod support on my son, held onto the back of him and coached him through the 4 minute fight with the Bonito, landing it on the boat.
My son’s smiling face at the end, made the trip the best fishing trip i’ve been on.
Highly recommend the trip with children to face catching something with some fight and get supported.
